The Big Forza 2 Thread *

I'm looking forward to this title a great deal. The racing release list was a wasteland for me last year, with Burnout Revenge providing some cheap thrills but lacking that meaty taste I like. :)

I think that SOON is the right time for a great new racing game for most X360 owners. PGR3 was a while ago now...

You can't keep games endlessly in development right? there's a point where you have to say, will this extra content be worth the development time, money invovled and increase sales of the product. I doubt any of the items listed will drastically affect the sales of the product.

True but that is a detemination that hopefully the studio and publisher hopefully makes in a manner that benefits not only them but also us consumers.

Ofcourse there is always the concept of releasing it early and then keep adding free content over time. It seems to sit well with the consumers and keeps the game in the spotlight.

Xbox.com got one detail wrong. 4xFSAA is still in.

Correct. Che corrected this today. The 8 cars and tracks are correct, but 4xMSAA is still currently on the table. Che had a very thoughtful response to all these issue and has also confirmed media should be shortly coming. Looking forward to it

Ok, well this isn't bad at all then. With the other tracks coming through DLC, and 4xAA still in, then the only real dowbgrade is 12 cars to 8, that doesn't bother me at all.

Having to pay an extra $5-10 for all the courses is a little downer, but I'd honestly rather pay a little extra to get it now instead of waiting until fall for it all to be included for $60. Knowing Forza it'll take a long time to work through the first set of tracks anyways.

what are environments when Che said it was reduced from 18 to 12... can T10 release an environment as a DLC???

Yes, he basically confirmed that development will continue on tehse areas, and they will be delivered via DLC. He's also hinting at the possibility of them being sponsored by auto companies, so they would be free.

I was pretty take aback at all the supposed downgrades, but as it turns out it's not a biggy. The number of tracks is a dissapointment, but as long as they are coming eventually I'm ok with that. And the number of cars in a race never did matter to me anyways, 8 is just fine with me.

I got this quote from Dan at Turn 10:

When the Gran Turismo franchise moved from the original Playstation to the PS2 it dropped 10 environments and 24 ribbons (not to mention nearly 400 cars). GT3 had a total of 36 ribbons including 13 reversed (and roughly 170 cars). That said, GT3 was better reviewed than GT2 and GT4 – each of which contained far more track and car content. Several GT2 tracks, Grindelwald and Pikes Peak for example, have never returned. I point this out not as an excuse or justification, but simply as some context.

does this make FM2 less disappointment???

Hope we have a decent surprise today !
Anyway, what is the difference between 4x MSAA and 4x FSAA ?
Is one of those 2 fellows able to get rid of jaggies on the car body reflections ? That was the main issue with PGR3 !

FSAA = MSAA
It used to be called FSAA but was renamed to MSAA by Ati and Nvidia because of the introduction of SSAA (Super Sampling Anti Aliasing).

I have high hopes for this game. FM1 was a fantastic sim racer especially for MGS' first time out. It's a little disappointing that the number of cars was reduced from 12 to 8 but I am very happy that the game will be 60fps which is a must if it wants to compete with the next GT.

Having additional tracks as DLC is great as well... but it seems that that is a continuing theme amongst next gen games. Oh well, May can't get here soon enough.

So it's 12 environments, and 47 courses.
Not too bad I suppose.

The Nurb' is in, so I'm happy. :p

In other words, expect downloadable content in the form of both tracks and cars in the months following FM2's release. Will it be free? We don't know and can't say for sure right now but whatever it ends up becoming, we at Turn 10 aim to do right by the community. Definitely no horse armor here, folks.

Wow, I am stunned by how fast they are moving with this game. What I was hearing around X06 was that it was like 10% done.

Will strengthen the MS first party lineup in a slow time of year also.

60% actually from what i saw at gamespot or somewhere, but definitely something 60%

Well, as long as it doesn't turn out to be something like GT PSP... :p

I'm actually quite pleased with the PS3 delay, I think we would have seen a lot more rushed titles from MGS otherwise.

Touché. ;)

I'm not really worried about that - but like you, I hope it turns out good. Downloadable cars and tracks would go a long way ... that way they can compensate a little for the lack of space on a DVD. :p

(seriously, if FM2 is good this time, it might be a system seller for me, though I'm still hoping for broader wheel support)
