The Big Forza 2 Thread *

Teamxbox review: http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1330/Forza-Motorsport-2/p1/

Gameplay 9.7
Dangerously addictive and loads of fun, Forza Motorsport 2 has what it takes under the hood to satisfy both car junkies and general gamers alike.

Graphics 8.3
Car tuning is a series of compromises, which holds true for the graphics in a high end sim as well. Flat as a board comes to mind.

Sounds 8.3
Rarely do the sound effects in Forza Motorsport 2 jump out and grab your attention like an open-exhaust rotary engine does in real life. Get those custom soundtracks ready.

Longevity 9.9
Forza Motorsport 2 appears to be thoroughly designed to ensure that you have no life outside of its cockpit.

Innovation 9.3
Not as big of a leap ahead of its predecessor as hoped, but it’s still lapping the competition in terms of the complete car culture experience.

Overall 9.3
Overall Score NOT an average

Textyres

The games is extremely crisp, and textures are excellent (though the decals are not the greatest.)

Forza has it's faults, but lack of crispness is certainly not one of em, that;s actually one of it's strengths, very crisp, very clean.

It's simple really, you just can't judge from screenshots, so until you actually play the game you're not getting the full impression. There's not much more to say really...

What do you think of these textures: http://i11.tinypic.com/53s0xp3.jpg

That pic is much better my friend. Is that photo mode?

Different

What does photomode have to do with how good textures are? They aren't swapping them out for photos. At best, better AF and AA

PGR3 is not so great in game but amazing photomode, like photograph sometimes maybe Forza has same thing. Lighting and shadow is much better, texture is much better, everything is much better.

Beautiful and sharp (picture edges have only little bit blur):

vs

Not so beautiful and sharp (nearly same camera distance but look at textures and lighting on the car body and wheels, blur edges)

The "sharpness" is due to the quality of the ss, nothing else. One looks to be a framebuffer grab and the other a capture through a tv capture device. Anyways, the game does not have any sort of blur filter applied to it that I'm aware of, so there should be no problems. I've played the demo and it certainly is as sharp as the first ss u posted.

OT, but Its been bothering me for a while. Why do you always say my friend at the end when you address people? Somehow your posts come off as pretentious.

I rather like ihamoitc2005's style. I certainly don't think he means any ill by it. :)

Forza invented the livery editor and it's paying off. I barely messed with it in Forza 1 but I am going to give it a try this time around.

The Japanese are already playing the game. Take a look at these stunning pictures! Awesome.

Some of those custom paint jobs are just jaw dropping. It amazes me what people can pull off with these in game editors. I will give it a shot but I suck at artistic stuff. I do look forward to buying some of these creations from the auction house.

What your seing with Forza2 screens, are mainly differences in how the picture is taken, and varius jpeg compression. There is a huge difference in quality just by the method the picture is captured on consoles.

As far as PGR3 goes, i doubt that they have better textures, or lighting or shadows, or anything in photomode. It just renders it at a higher resolution with more AA, and it allows you to fool around with contrasts settings and blur filter.

765 layers. Must take a ton of patience. ;)

The more of this game I see the more I like. The graphics are pretty damn sharp if you ask me, the physics are best in class, and bonuses like the decal system just add to the fun. I'm not a fan of this kind of racing game - PGR3 is more my style - but I have to appreciate a quality product when I see one. This dev clearly worked very hard.

Gamespot review 9.2

Forza 2 delivers on nearly every aspect you'd want in a Forza sequel. It drives incredibly, it's wonderfully presented, and it's rich with modes and features.

The Good: A phenomenal driving model that's appealing to both beginners and experts; races just feel right, from the great car physics to the top-notch opponent artificial intelligence; framerate consistently holds steady at a brisk 60 frames per second; tons of cars to buy and modes to race them in; customization is ridiculously deep.
The Bad: Racing sound effects aren't as varied as they could be; could have used a few more tracks.
