The Big Forza 2 Thread *

It's looking mighty fine, except for the unnecessary "shine" on everything, but I guess they want to show off the reflections running at 60fps. :p

imo this looks nowhere near to cartoonish style... to be honset looks like photorealistic gfx

I would really like to see some GTHD comparisons after this game is out. It looks like it could be easily comparable from these screens.

The environment is convincing, there's no argument there. But the car looks like something you'd see in anime -- not that that's bad or anything, it's just the way it appears in the picture.

The contast/brightness/exposure is wacked in the photo. That's all. Or perhaps that TV isn't the best or is poorly calibrated. Can't see what could possibly be "cartoonish" or "anime-like" about this at all.

What I see is some amazing shadowing along with what looks like some great light/surface interaction. The enviro is equally impressive and we have some haze/light scattering in the distance. Road surface is detailed with wear marks. Lots of enviro detail, even in the distance. I'd say it looks like quite the improvement over the original game and definitely other racers I've seen.

And that's just the gfx. Forza games usually have about 10x the depth of simulation compared to the other racers on the MS consoles.

Yeah, seriously, this game will most likely be the best sim-racer to date...both aesthetically and otherwise. As I've said before, the neatest feature for me is the customization of just about everything in the game. Hopefully we'll see these kinds of features in future racers like GT5. Maybe its a little 'tacky' to pure racing/driving enthusiasts, but for me it adds a whole other level of fun-factor for me.

Suppose we cut the car out of the scene with a pair of scissors and paste it on the blank canvas of an artist's easel. Now we get a cartoonist to draw a scene around the car. I'm betting that snippet will look more homely in an anime still than in Forza. ;)

Right..... you go ahead and do that to prove your point. And just continue ignoring the explanations for why those shots look like they do.

Very very nice :)
The sounds were really amazing. Sound realism is probably even harder than graphics realism. The crash was cool too
I liked the 'Good!' at the end :p

I hereby proclaim this game to be awesome. A demo with 24 cars is just nuts...

Its finally starting to come together now

yep... everyone was pointing to the graphics all this time as a weakness and instead they focused on physics, details, sounds and INCREDIBLE customization and driving simulation depth.... and polished the graphics at the end.

Or mastered the art of bullshots as things went along..

Not that I dont think the game will look good. That Korean guy who had hands on seemed to think it was like PGR3 but better graphically. Sounds right. I think 30 FPS PGR4 will be the MS racer to push the graphical boundaries much farther. Forza being 60 FPS and the complex sim aspects isn't really designed for that IMO.
