(David Jaffe's DLX Game)

Nice, he also has a blog up it seems.

Finally I can talk about our new game! Ok, ok, it clearly ain’t a game that will make you cry. The best laid plans, and all that, right? BUT...the hope is that it IS a game that will make you addicted and giddy and jazzed to play over and over and over again! So give it a watch, lemme know your thoughts. Sorry about shitty editing and compression, I’m just learning iMovie and wanted something up, even if a little on the rough side. It will be 1080p 60fps on ps3 so don’t you worry about the grainy look here!
pretty interesting video on there as well

Definately, I think the PS3 --> PSP feature is one of my favorite features out of them all. :)
I could be at school (read: college wireless network) and watch or show a video to a friend thats on my ps3 at home. Bunch of possibilities there I think.

thumbnails video is a very nice touch.
and youtube/flash is very convienient as well.

I do wish we knew more about the eyetoy2 and the ps3 headset for further confirmation though.

I have a bunch of 1080i/p MPEG-2 vids that I want to get on the thing, running off my PC connected to a TV is too noisy and the cabling is ghastly. Real time previewed thumbnails + lightning quick response espouses quality. Also looking forward to the extra photo slideshow modes they'll be adding in the updates as Harrison eluded to at TGS.

Was never worried about YouTube on the browser after the Yellow Dog + Firefox announcement but it's even more convenient since I won't have to leave the XMB. I haven't touched my PSP for ages, I was tempted to get a Location-Free player and this news pretty much saves me the trouble, will definitely bring a new lease of life to my PSP.

Also the network, exactly as expected, I didn't understand the doubters. Is it really that hard to pull off that sort of stuff? For a company with such a wide-array of content to sell there was already massive incentive for them to get their online stuff working.

I got no worries about BC, they wouldn't be advertising it in their in store promotional material if they couldn't do it, because that'd be illegal.

Should be fun when people go home, hook up the PS3 with composite, put in talledega nights on Blu Ray and it looks like shit.....Adding a HDMI cable to the first 500k units would've done wonders......

You think the first 500K are people who are not going to know that to get the best from their HDTV they'd need to get a component or HDMI cable?

hmmm........

2:13 p.m.: He says the Cell processor, which makes its consumer debut in the PS3, runs at 256 "thousand million teraflops per second," but admits he's not the one to tell us what that means.

Remembers CELL was supposedly 213 (or so) Gflops an e3 ago, wonders if there is any significance to the 256 number mentioned now..... has CELL been upgraded? (256 (gflops) was the theortical figure for an 8 SPE enabled CELL processor back then. While I doubt they have 8 SPE enabled CELLs in PS3s as I imagine they can sell them for far more to the medical industry and such, could they have cranked up something else to improve performance..... or am I putting to much stock in the words of a man that makes it seem like a single CELL chip has about as much power as every supercomputer ever made combined and multiplied by 10?

Well, Talladega Nights over composite will still look a whole lot better than the DVD over RCA. ;) So I think people will be duly impressed, if we're talking about the 'average joe' crowd.

So the inclusions are the same for both versions of the console? That's good to know, and that being said, I also wonder if WiFi and the card reader are to be possible upgrades, and if so what their prices will be. More importantly than that, when PS3 launches I need the Japanese crowd to serve point and fill us in on whether it supports USB WiFi and card readers natively or not. Because I've got some of those lying around, and wouldn't mind saving a hunded. ;)

But I'm on the premium model at the moment.

This is Kaz speaking, not Kutaragi, I think you're confusing the two...

Because Kutaragi *would* be the kind of guy to tell you what that means! :)

He also probably wouldn't have made that error in FLop count. Yes though, it's 218 for the Cell in PS3. Kaz must just have the 256 number stuck in his head for some reason. Like he says, he's not the one to tell you what it means, and I don't think he's the tech powerhouse of the SCE executive team - so let's forgive him this transgression.

AFAIK RCA is the connector (Component and Composite both use RCA). So what you said made no sense. Unless you meant Component, and if so I thought the PS3 wont come with Component.

surprised that they didn't go $49.99 for 1st part titles

the rest of the peripheral costs appear that they are going to be in line with other Next Gen accessories.

oh... and no component cables in the box???

It wasn't Kaz that said it, it was Tretton.

Maybe it has no relevance, but as this was their event to confirm the final details, it might be.

I guess I'll have to start bugging DeanC and nAo for info like everyone else with questions  (I won't don't worry ;))

Ack you're right - I read the info release as component rather than composite. And in that light yes, I agree what I said makes no sense. :p

And in light of that, I agree it wouldn't really be all that spectacular in the IQ department. BUT... so I'm defaulting to Avaya's thinking in post #26. ;)

Oh Tretton did? Well whatever - I'm not actually following this event save for what I'm reading on the forums. But yeah, it's 218 GFLops; believe me you don't need to be asking the HS team or anyone else, the guy just mispoke is all. :)

There was a rumor a while back that demos would cost $1. Was that ever debunked? I'm curious to know if the Motorstorm demo will be free.
