Sony VR Headset/Project Morpheus/PlayStation VR

Positional parallax error is my phrase, I used to call it world wobble, but I think this more accurately describes what's happening. It the same sort of issue they get in 180 and 360 3D videos when they don't "stitch" all of the views together properly.

Funnily enough London Heist was the first game I noticed it in, but mostly in the pub scene and the shoot out behind the desk. Batman Arkham VR also has it a lot.

Radial G is pretty cool. One particularly curious thing about it: amongst all the non-stationary VR experiences, this is one of the, if not the most easy going one out there when it comes to causing nausea. Quite surprising considering how wild the whole thing is. It's basically a roller coaster with a tubular track around which you can freely rotate.

PSVR kinda reminds me of the Vita at this point: fantastic launch followed by one big hitter a little later (RE7 is like the Vita's Killzone Mercenary in a way), but otherwise it's been a slew of middling or even outright garbage titles for ridiculous prices.

The upcoming games also seems so far away
Dreams
Ace combat
Gran turusmo.

It does have lots of niche Japanese games and indies tho

I disagree. There is a lot of garbage indeed, but the prices are not ridiculous. I have yet to pay more than 15 pounds for a VR game and have enjoyed it quite a lot. Additionally, there are other VR platforms and ports from Vive and Oculus are steadily coming through. Vita was pretty much alone, since 3DS catered to a very different market, despite the handheld form factor.

EDIT - Of course our impressions depends a lot on how often we use it and how quick you can get through the content. I don't play games that often, so how still have lots of content to go through on PSVR.

At this point we know that GT's VR mode is completely half-assed. You can only race against a single opponent and the track selection is limited. I don't have particularly high hopes for AC either.

I hope DOOM VFR's gonna be good. Considering how janky the move controllers tend to behave at the best of times I'm rather sceptical, though. Would have prefered a straight port of Doom myself. I hate teleportation in VR.

I really can't stand scary games but it's doom, and it's in VR, and I almost never have a problem with ps moves :D

(I just shake it violently when it starts borking)

Archangel is 40% off right now. Bought it. Turns out I cannot play it because the one thing I've always dreaded when I opened the PSVR box for the first time has finally come to pass: the cable is broken.

Damn! How were you storing it? I let mine pretty much loose and avoid bending it as much as possible.

Ouch, is the cable detachable? IE - easy to replace?

I will never again buy a KB, Mouse, audio headset, or game controller if it doesn't feature a detachable cable just because of this issue. I've had too many mice and keyboards go bad on me back in the 90's and early 2000's for me to want to deal with that.

Granted that doesn't solve all the problems. I've run into one mouse which had a badly soldered on USB port which came loose over time. Still, it's better than having cables go bad for a variety of reasons.

SB

It depends on which part of the cable. The headset has a bit of cable that then connects to the cable that connects to the auxiliary box.

Yeah I wonder about that too.

Anyway, in my country, there's a law that mandates a spare parts must be available at minimum for one year.

When I asked sony about Psvr spare parts they totally dodged the question and recommended me to bring mine to sony service Center

Well Plus has now started to bundle PSVR titles with RIGS last month. My best guess is VR Worlds is next, and eventually it'll be Until Dawn, Super Stardust Ultra, etc.

I think there's still good momentum for PSVR.

Sony Reveals New PSVR Model With HDR Pass-Through, Revised Design
https://uploadvr.com/sony-reveals-new-psvr-model-hdr-pass-revised-design/
For starters, the kit’s processor unit now allows for high dynamic range (HDR) passthrough. PS4 got an HDR update last year, but anyone with PSVR needed to unplug the headset to get the benefits on their TV. To be clear, this doesn’t sound like PSVR itself now supports HDR, just traditional games can be played on a TV with the option while it’s still plugged in.

Elsewhere, the site notes the headset’s stereo headphone jack has been relocated, and the cables have been replaced with new, slimmer alternatives. PSVR’s wires can indeed cause something of a mess, so this is another appreciated update.

So how does this uodate make the current owners feel?

I'm indifferent. I don't have an HDR TV or even 4K for that matter. It would have been nice to have the better organised sound cables, but on the other hand I like that there is a "division" in the cable on the current model, since it makes it easier for me to store it away (leave the bit that is connected to the breakout box there and tuck it under the furniture, while I store the HMD somewhere else without having to worry about a long cable). I would be weary of the thinner cables though, afraid of them being more easily breakable.

Knew about the hdr limitation at launch. Expected this revision at some point. Made an informed decision. Don't have hdr on my projector. Will not have an hdr projector before next gen.

But. .. I'm happy the gamers who skipped psvr because of this will now accelerate sales, making a bigger VR market.

Never really stored it at all really. The headset pretty much just sat on a desk or a chair whenever I wasn't using it. In my experience, cables will just go bad eventually. In case of PSVR, the cable has to pretty much take a lot of abuse by design. You cannot really tell your friends to react more moderately when they're playing Rush of Blood. Well, I guess you could, but even if this somehow worked, it would also defeat the purpose of the device entirely.
