Sony Vita Games Thread

There is a fantastic little easter egg in Uncharted Golden Abyss.
In the first cut scene with sully in the bar, you can tap on the parrot...
It'll say things like "sully likes strange men! barrr!" and something about naughty dog

Lol, completely missed that!

Just tried Gravity Rush for the first time, and it certainly paints a wonderful atmosphere. Really easy to see why so many like it. Also seems to run much smoother than I remember from when I tried the demo.

I like gravity rush too. Very nice art style and controls are reasonable enough. Only gripe so far is that I get somewhat disoriented at times.

^I thought that was part of the fun actually. If I go on a roller coaster ride, I actually demand a little disorientation.

Better analogy would be roller coaster ride that occasionally stops in middle and sometimes also kills passengers. But gravity rush is reasonable, I would say solid 7-8 game in scale of 1-10.

Lots of good Vita stuff ... The new youtube update is great, makes it pretty much the best version on anything I have in the house currently:

Subscriptions and channels: Now you can view and manage your subscriptions (including your subscription to the PlayStation YouTube channel), browse all videos on a specific channel and check out detailed information in the “About this channel” menu option.
Improved controls: We’ve added new functions on controls including Next/Previous buttons, a loop video option and the ability to browse videos while another is playing, making it easy to select preferred videos without interrupting playback.
Playlist settings: You can now create playlists and add videos to your playlists, including your Favorites or Watch Later lists.
Closed captions: Captions help deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers enjoy YouTube videos, and they’re also useful if you forgot your headphones and want to watch videos in a loud (or quiet) setting while on-the-go. Now you can display closed captions when playing videos. Look for the captions icon on the video thumbnail. You can even change the language of captions in the options menu.
Continuous playback: In the settings menu, you can now enable continuous playback, so your next video selection will start to play automatically.
PS Vita buttons: You now have the option to use the PS Vita buttons to control playback and menus, which can be enabled in the Settings > System menu.
Share: Show that you’re tuned in—Tweet, Email or group message your friends the name and URL to the latest video. You can also invite people to check out any channel on YouTube — like the the PlayStation YouTube channel — via group message, so they don’t miss a beat.
Improved search: You can now use search filters — sorting by upload date or duration, for example — making it easier than ever to find your favorite videos.

I also just download the 'Uncarded' Uncharted card game (think Magic: The Gathering), which hooks up to Golden Abyss for collecting cards. It seems surprisingly good.

WRC3 is also up on the (EU) store, and it looks like Sonic All Stars Racing Vita version is pretty good too:

Water is worse, some shadows are missing, but overall it looks pretty good next to the PS3 version.

I think the US gets some even nicer stuff this week, but not sure.

WRC3 looks pretty cool on the Vita. It finally feels like it is finding its feet in terms of quality games arriving.

Playing chapter 14 of gravity rush now. The game is getting better and better as I make more progress. Sequel to this one could be really, really good if they fixed a bit of things and improved on the variety of missions and challenges. But this game is pretty good as it is so... gotta play some more :)

Started playing knytt underground. So far so good. Seems solid so far and gives excellent 8bit adventure game feeling with modern twist on graphics and playability. This might become one of my favourite vita games assuming the game doesn't get crappy after excellent start.

Played a bit more LBP. Some of the user stages are really brilliant. The one with photos from the makers house had more sould than the whole of Journey.

Played some Uncharted Golden Abyss, think the game is way to long, currently at 42% :D I guess its unchartered fatigue setting in.

Some of the motion controlls work out ok, others are just plain dorky, ohh well. Props to Bend studios for making it quite close to the PS3 versions.

But I keep going back to Football Manager Handheld on the Vita, its the perfect handheld/mobile game for me. Tried a bunch, but they do not have the "right" feeling.

Additionally;

The guys at Bend told me there is actually a secret trophy for this, if you manage to get the parrot to say 8 different things

Yeah, it's a bit of a slow trickle at first. It does pick up near the end though - I think I played the last three hours in one session.

I had no issue with any of them though. I liked most of the stuff actually. It's good that they made most of it optional. I think it's probably wise for these types of games to make all of it work with the regular controls as well, so that the player can decide what's more natural (or convenient for that moment). They went quite far with that already, but should probably do so always, no exceptions.

@Graham: interesting, will have to try that.

Love the art style and retro atmosphere, controls took me a while to get used to especially the auto-jump when walking near the edge of a platform:)

Just be aware the save system is terrible. You have to travel back to the few save points in the map. I wasn't aware of this the first time I played it.

The ambience and music is rather wonderful though

One of the very few games I've played this holiday has been Mortal Kombat. I would never have tried it without Playstation Plus, but especialky the story mode. Is really good!

Kinda liked the first level of that Knytt Underground thingie, even though it mostly consisted of empty filler space. Unfortunately it really dropped the ball on stage 2.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. I'll get my coat.

I played this a lot, and think I am getting close to the finale (emperor battle that is really hard). It's really good, incredibly fast and responsive on Vita and the systems are great too. Highly recommended if you like 2D fighters.

I had similar experience. Great start but falls flat. Not going to finish this one.
