Sony Vita Games Thread

I do indeed have it set to search for other players. If that's the culprit, then they really need to get that sorted out. On the PS3 LBP, the same procedure takes a couple of seconds tops.
I've only had it on a few times, and sometimes the search took up to a minute.

On the PS3 version? Maybe. It's usually damn near instantaneous for me. On the Vita version I have to wait 2 or 3 minutes if I'm lucky.

I don't have a PS3. Only a Vita (and DC.... perhaps you can see a pattern here 8P )

I have it on most of the time but never had any issues. I guess just test?

I'm just replaying Resistance, Uncharted etc. My original memory card just stopped working and took all my saved games with it... So I have put LBP to one side for the moment but from the short play I had it seemed very well suited to the Vita.

Bought Street Fighter X Tekken today. Capcom did a really good job with the port (that's 2 for 2 now). I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the ink shader effects (which are entirely gone in this version), but I still think it's highly commendable how Capcom managed to get a game that often renders no less than 4 highly detailed character models at once running at a smooth 60 fps on a handheld. Even the backgrounds retain much of their goofy animations. (Dinosaurs still fight, and giant Mammoths still chase after futuristic hover crafts)

Image quality-wise it seems kinda like LBP to me. Not quite native res, but nice and smooth regardless thanks to some decent AA. Loading times are mercifully brief as well. (just a couple of seconds per fight)

I had a quick look at it during GamesCom. It looked really good on the Vita, good detail and great colors:

If it's upscaled, it's not very noticeable.

Talking about upscaled, the final version of Assassin's Creed: Liberation definitely seems upscaled, but a few people at GAF have the game now, and it really is a full Assassin's Creed game, so that looks promising. It's out in less than a week now (and in stores already here and there) and I'll definitely get it. I think I'll get the physical version for this one.

I pre-ordered the ACIII Vita+PS3 thingamajig on PSN. Liberation looks very cool indeed. Thankfully I'm personally not all that bothered by the resolution war. Upscaled or not, Uncharted looked great, and so did Gravity Rush.

I think the really awful compression on the system level screenshot make the Liberation screens on NeoGAF look especially bad.

I'd say, from personal experience of seeing screenshots vs the real thing, is that the primary factor is not being on the Vita's own screen that makes the screens look worse. ;)

Very nice. I'll see if they have it in a store somewhere tomorrow, just in case. ;)

very impressive, load fast and looks like it runs smooth too, hopefully this game will sell good enough so ubi will do another one. Any comment on the dedicated jump button?

I'm quite enjoying Pinball Arcade. It's fun and just 'feels' good to me - not that I have much real world pinball experience. Zen Pinball on the other hand immediately felt sluggish and disconnected - I find the speed of the ball unpredictable and simply feels wrong, which is odd as I enjoyed Pinball FX a lot.

On the negative side, PA is a tad buggy, has an annoying load/save system and the DLC is hit and miss: Of the sets I've tried, The Gorgar + Monster Bash set is fantastic - Gorgar is very simple but enjoyable, while Monster Bash is a lot of fun. The Black Knight and Black Lagoon tables both have a dramatic frame rate problem (feels like a CPU issue) - which makes the tables unplayable - while the other tables available are pretty good but a bit too gimmicky for my taste.

Otherwise I'd recommend it. Pity it doesn't look as nice as the console versions - but somehow it sounds better on a handheld.

Wow, I'm surprised. I'm finding Zen Pinball 2 such an incredibly much better experience, I almost can't believe we're talking about the same games on the same system. I actually ended up deleting Pinball Arcade, which I played a lot before I got Zen Pinball 2 ...

What tables did you try for Zen Pinball 2? (I have all of them)

The DD version of ACIII Liberation is just shy of 3 GB in case anyone's wondering.

Yeah, just heard that as well. And as a surprise, apparently someone in Belgium already managed to buy it from the online store.

I've set a rule that if a game is more than 1.6GB, I'll probably end up getting the Cart version. So I'll be getting it tomorrow night, hopefully.

I can't get the cart version if it has online pass, can't use it as my PSN id is American and I live in UK....not an issue for PS3 where you can have it activated on a different id in the same console and still use it.
