Sony Vita Games Thread

I got my new toy a day or so ago and installed LBP. I've only gone through the intro so far but anything that has Stephen Fry quoting Newman and Baddiel's "History Today" is a winner in my eyes. :)

I always wonder if there are people who find his banter just too complicated, don't understand half the stuff he says, and if this holds the game back ... Of course, now I've had to switch the game to Dutch so my son can understand - fortunately that's a pretty decent voice too.

I think you'll like it - I'm at World 4 now which is my favorite so far, and one of the best levels in any LBP ever (there's a user generated clock level though in LBP2 that I played a while ago, that is completely insane).

I'm also very impressed by all the mini-games, some of which have online rankings, local or online multiplayer, etc., many of them are basically typical iOS style games.

May I just say that LBP Vita is as bonkers as a multi-hamster powered ferris wheel. :)

I hate the multi-boss at the end of the clown level ... grr. Not that I've tried it that often yet, just never been a huge fan of that kind of thing.

That's where I'm stuck at the moment. The aiming mechanism isn't accurate enough to make a multiple strike attack much fun.

I personally just hate dying and having to replay the not too hard but still long and somewhat mentally draining first section while I'm trying to figure out what I'm even supposed to do in the next section.

I also queued up and played three mm picks that someone recommended at neogaf. The first one I tried, Wooden Crown, is an extremely nice level. Another level about an Ant is a nice demonstration of other things that are possible, as it basically looks like a 2D art game, and the last one is a scientific calculator, that also gives you the logic boards for the various functions if you want them for reuse in your own levels.

I'm really useless. I'm stuck in the "Capacitor for Evil" level.

Oh I also managed to fall out the bottom of one of the levels and ended up running backwards and forwards on the "cardboard" on the bottom for a while :)

I didn't mention it here, but a few more tries later I figured it out. I initially thought that the final section when the 'bridge' starts tilting back and forth tilted because of my weight. But it turns out it is just moving back and forth in a fixed pattern. Once I figured that out, I pretty much got it right right away.

I also thought it was the penultimate level, but it turns out this was the end-boss, in which case it was all fairly justified. ;)

I only ever fell out of a level in a user generated one, but fortunately they put in a fun 'blow yourself up literally' solution in the game from day one, and it's actually fun to be able to use that every once in a while (I think over LBP1, 2, PSP and Vita I've had to use it maybe 4 times total. I've used it one or two times more but just when I was playing co-op online and we wanted to get treasure for which we had to move back a bit ...

Definitely the easiest of all campaigns so far, and the most enjoyable. Sad it is over, actually, but thankfully there are already some great user levels, and I look forward to some DLC levels in the future (the ones for LBP2, like pirates, muppets, etc. level sets, were pretty good as well).

This holiday season is seeing a ridiculous amount of games ... Not that I'm complaining of course, I don't *have* to buy them all, and that leaves some room for some games to suck. :)

Still really curious about how Liberation will turn out!

But happy with any racer. Hopefully at least this one or NFS Most Wanted will turn out good.

The loading times are kinda killing Little Big Planet for me. Having to wait up to 5 bloody minutes in order to gain access to a level that takes one or two minutes to complete? That is just wrong.

5 minutes? That doesn't sound right. It'd estimate it's more like 5 to 20 seconds.

Could it be that you have it set up to try to find other online players? That can take a while.

Oh, and while on the subject I downloaded "Honey Village", which is pretty, and the "Cows on a Biplane" level, which is, surprisingly, pythonesque :)

I do indeed have it set to search for other players. If that's the culprit, then they really need to get that sorted out. On the PS3 LBP, the same procedure takes a couple of seconds tops.
