Sony Vita Games Thread

Resistance is not a bad first attempt at an FPS on the Vita.

From what I've played so far it's a very bad attempt actually. It's barely even competent, and that's just not enough for a shooter in 2012. What makes it even worse is how they are charging 45€ for that boiler plate ugly ass experience.

I'm actually much more curious about the dungeon crawler Sony is making in-house.
Diablo 3, at least in its current state, is not controller friendly at all (even though it seems that way at first) It's also the world's most frustrating slot machine.

I think it perfect for vita because of the touch control.

If this is so bad then what is a better FPS on a handheld?

He's obviously not comparing it to handheld shooters. Few people are. I am for one glad it at least seems to prove it's a good fit for Vita, and now it is wait and see if we get one that really takes off ...

There's a great thread on gad btw showing all Vita games on the show floor. Quite many.

I suppose that's because of the assumed abilities of the Vita. The closest I have got so far on a mobile device is Shadowgun THD on my Tegra 3 based Asus Pad.

It's definitely not perfect, but for a 1st generation game on a brand new platform it shows more than just promise of what potential there is in the Vita.

Finished Burning Skies with a Platinum Trophy. The online matches are OK, but the fact that they are playable in such a way at all is another tick in the right box for the Vita's potential.

And ~25 games on the floor at E3... Silly Sony should have concentrated on that as well as the big guns.

Actually I do compare it to handheld shooters. More specifically I compare it to Uncharted Golden Abyss. Sure, it's not first person, but it still proves that right stick aiming works fine on the Vita. It's also a great game.

How's Burning Skies ? I am deciding between Unit 13 and Resistance for my first shooter on Vita.

It's a much accomplished shooter than Unit 13. Just don't approach with any thought to the Resistance canon, and there are a few flaws that tend to be more annoying than game breaking (lack of background music, none skippable cut scenes, some clipping errors, bland levels at the beginning) but once you get into the flow of things it really is good fun. I thought it was a little too easy to get a Platinum but I'm not going to complain :LOL:

For a first gen FPS on the Vita it's quite exciting because you can feel the potential, you know it can do more and Resistance isn't really pushing the envelope. I'm not sure about the price though, it seems a little steep for the game length but I guess that's an issue with the entire Vita pricing structure.

Heh, I will probably get Gravity Rush and MGS Collection for Vita today.

Will keep that easy Platinum trophy in mind. I don't have any Platinum trophy at all. ^_^

How much is Gravity Rush on PSN? I have to wait until tomorrow unfortunately, but in case Sony's gonna ask a 45€ premium price once again, I'll probably wait until Friday and get it on a cartridge instead :( (which is a little unfortunate because that's also when Lollipop Chainsaw comes out)

Also, and in case you haven't done so already: check out the screen shots and videos of Assassin's Creed Liberation. Looks absolutely phenomenal. Guacamelee (from the Tales from Space developers) is another day1 purchase for me, and Streetfighter X Tekken really illustrates just how awful a port Mortal Kombat was.

It's not out yet. Probably 3 more hours.

I'm going completely digital on Vita. I bought 3 Vita game cartridges because of retail discounts, but I lost all of them eventually. >_<

I would go completely digital with the Vita but the price of the memory cards are just silly and I can't justify buying them when I can use the money for more games on my PS3 or Transformer.

I heard 32Gb is "only" $80 now. I paid $100 and don't regret it one bit. ^_^
It currently holds:
* 7 apps
* 1 full-length SD movie (bought from PS Store accidentally a couple of years ago)
* 1 SI swimsuit video (for testing... ahem !)
* 9 TV episodes (old Heroes episodes)
* 2800+ photos (family and babes)
* 19 Music Unlimited songs (stored locally for offline playback)
* 4 Vita game demoes
* 5 PSP games
* 7 Vita games
* 3 Vita cartridge game launchers (I lost all of 'em >8^/).
with 12 Gb unused.

It's difficult to explain but having all the games (PS3-type, PSP-type and iOS-type), plus web, movies, songs all on one device where you can swipe between them is a bliss. I do whatever I want, wherever I'm. No need to worry about battery life.

When I'm dead tired but still bored, I just whip out the thing and play in bed. No need to look for discs or cartridges, whether they are in the office or at home. I said on GAF that it's a little like floating in a bed of sugar water. It's not uncommon for me to play until I fall asleep and wake up in the morning. ^_^

I didn't go into DD voluntarily. It's just that I usually lose stuff, from wedding bands, PSP and games, to watches. So I guess I have to go DD for portable consoles. :devilish:

Li nks to the media of AC and Guacamelee pls :) !
