According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Konami's Metal Gear Acid 2 for the PSP will play with the use of a special peripheral called the "Solid Eye." By attaching the peripheral--which looks like a set of binoculars that matches the PSP's body color--gamers will be able to see portions of Metal Gear Acid 2 in 3D. The attachment will be bundled with Metal Gear Acid 2.
this is interesting, the first real peripheral for the psp that has somthing to do with the game. (i was hoping for a headset or a camera :p but this sounds like a good start) and im guessing this is connected via usb.

does anybody have pics of this "solid eye"?

They advertise the PSP as something you would take out in public and use. Im not so sure I would be using some "binocular" type of headware in front of anyone...

im sure it wont require you to have to use it, it just seems like a way to see the "battlefield" better. so you could just use it at home or something i guess and not use it while on the move.

i think its cool psp is finally getting some peripherals good or bad. wish we had a picture of the thing.

so any news for this?

Does it come with a strap so you can wear it like ski goggles?
I hope it is not too heavy.
Cool looking gadget, the PSP is even sexier now!
I've always wanted to try those VR goggles, now the PSP makes it possible!!

wait... won't it be difficult to use the controls if you're wearing it.Other than that I can not find much faults in the design.

No really, it looks HIDEOUS!!!

that is the WORST looking peripheral concept ever in the history of the universe. My guess is it uses alternating LCD's and prisms so each eye is shown a different view rendered on the screen. ugh, that's bad! Are you supposed to just lean forward with your eyes in the goggly-bits? I image back pain...

Plus different people have different eyes. That's why binoculars are adjustable to fit different spans between eyes. One size doesn't fit all. I imagine I'll have one eye looking at black plastic.

ROFLCOPTEROMG!!!!!

That is the funniest, bulky and scary piece of peripheral that I have ever seen. I'm getting flashbacks of VisualBoy >.>

dunno - to me it looks like a simple sleeve cutting the LCD display in 2... The game may then draw left eye / right eye views with a vertical split on the LCD screen. It looks like you clamp it on to the PSP and then hold the PSP up in front of your eyes.
( That's how I'd do it - the simple ways are often the best... )

wow, they turned the psp into a virtual boy!

seriously, i like "3d" stuff, and i actualy enjoyed the VB (great pinball games, and mario tennis), so i'm pretty excited about this. i'd rather have it with a tank sim than MGS, but...
