i only compare their clock speed when both x800xt and 6800U are 16piplines, 256bit so niether of them hav advantages at those 2 areas. the case of nv30 vs r300 is different however. nv30 has to use more core speed to compensate it's low 128bit and 4*2 pipline.

The attempt for comparisons are scrap because both products are not out to really compare thus=scrap? Or actual product to product equates to one product being scrap?

yeah i realize they hav different architecture but, those are just based on my own predictions.

then again, no matter how different r420 architecture is to nv40's, it still wont support SM.3...now would it...

Anyway.... back on the "scrap" comment. If Dave is referring to X800 Pro vs. 6800 Ultra then nV really have a fight in their hands. You'd imagine that the performance delta between X800 Pro & X800 XT will be far greater than that concerning the the 6800 Ultra and an as-yet-not-announced NV40 @ 475/600MHz (if that is indeed a good indicator of what we can expect??).

Edit - either that or he's referring to the entire product ranges based on those ASICs. So the X800 Pro might be a bit slower than the 6800 Ultra, but the X800 XT might be a bit faster than the 6850/whatever.
