Dave Barry's comedy is stronger than your guesswork

MS won't kill 360 like they did the first one since it's built to cost reduce unlike the 1st one. This is just common sense , 360 will have a long 8+ year cycle, just like PS3 will. They wouldn't just throw potential revenue away, the XBOX offered no potential revenue.

Well but xbox1 was only there to gain marketshare, MS never intended to have the xbox last long. Thats what x360 is supposed to do. Gain more marketshare and try to be competetive for 5 - 6 years. Switching consoles again after 4 years will probably piss of alot of devs, you dont want to do that.

You could, but they are both extremely stupid examples.

As for failure, the vast majority of those were in the first 6months, as evidenced by MS's extension of warrantee for all consoles manufactured in 2005. It's a non-factor.

But comparing electric bills to having to pay 400$ for XBOX live over the 360 "lifetime" (at least from what you say) is brilliant?

Since Microsoft can walk on water i´m not surprised they don´t get heat for ditcing the xbox after only 4 years (give and take depending on US/EU).

And the 360 still breaks, you can take your 6 months and put them in this 92 page long thread of success: http://forums.xbox.com/92/7864073/ShowPost.aspx#7864073

Kind a fun how some of these guys have to exhange 5 consoles while still having to pay for their XBOX live, at least that wont be a problem for Sony. Oh well, in a world where a console that is $100 dollars more expensive is considered "extremely" overpriced Sony can't win the PR war. At least those that can look to the shit can see it´s not like that.

In case you didn't get the memo, those versions were software, the desire to sell lot's of software is not directly proportional to short game console cycles is it?

Could you please try to sound little bit more bitter, I'm just not feeling you as it is.

Could you clue me in to why they have a free pass?

In the console business, MS is seen as the underdog - and most people tend to side with the David, not with the Goliath. But they dont get free pas from anybody. Some people cannot get past the fact that MS as a whole IS the Goliath.

Well I only speak for myself, and now on this matter alone, but to me Xbox didn't die too soon, I was ready for the next gen long before the X360 arrived, I had my share of excellent gaming moments with the first Box, and I wanted new tech little bit after the release of Halo2. All the old consoles have huge existing library of quality titles that should keep even newcomers happy for quite some time. Besides lot's of games were still released to Xbox after X360 came out, just not first party titles. And if we look at the situation from the business angle, it's evident that MS did the only right thing when they moved their resources to X360.

BTW I don't often hear Xbox owners complain about this matter. It's more the other side that is making the noise, of course you could argue that they are potential customers but...

I'm amazed that you think they do.

I must live in some parallel universe where the internet is populated with seemingly insane Sony fanatics that seem to spend every waking second sticking up for their beloved company and denouncing any competitors.

Not that Sony is unique in that, but they certainly have their fair share. I mean just look at this very board, which is one of the best on the internet. There are still plenty of people who seem to have lost their objectivity when it comes to Sony - and are willing to stick it to Microsoft whenever possible. I don't think any company gets a free pass - they all get a kicking from those that dislike them at some point.

Locked. thread doesn't go anywhere. The health service in the UK is completely off-topic and the rest is just bickering on both sides.
