PS3 Pre-orders start TOMORROW

Clarification:

You bought a place in line for the PS3. This was confirmed by a document which they handed you. IE If they get in 8 units and your #8 who preordered, your golden. Ill scan the document in a sec (OMG SCANS!@!@!@@!@ ILLEGALZ)

Anway, I left my house at about 9:26AM and I was rushing the whole way up. I kept surveying cars thinking they might be going up there too. Group of college kids..damn they are ahead of me!...Great, they turned into Lowes!

So I get up there, camera ready...as I turn the corner!!!

So we talk for a while, discuss how micro transactions suck, etc etc. Then we get to how they got there:

The latino dude was there since 11PM (which I doubt, as my report showed last night). But he was probaly there for a while. He was a funny dude.

The three kids in chairs arrived next and slept. Then came this dude from the other EB, who seen there was already 8 people at that store.

Next up was a woman who was "getting paid for this" XD

Then finally I arrived, lucky number 7 (although it would later turn out that I was infact 6th, because one of the three kids didnt buy anything!!)

Their mother showed up next and got behind me, then this dude who was left in the cold at the other EB. By this time the doors opened and we piled in. As you can see from the last pic, a TON of stragglers made their way in. I feel sorry for em

I was number 6, so barring any horrible incident Im virtually assured!

Just came back, my store got 14 PS3's, I was 8th in line. Payed off resistance and the 60gig ps3 so far.

They told me that hardware allocations were based on existing software pre-orders. My location had quite a few PS3 games pre-ordered so they got 16 instead of 8 systems. So they say.

I got one of those on my receipt and it's just GS/EB covering their ass in case Sony doesn't come through with what was allocated to them.

I'll be honest... it's a little bit distressing seeing you guys pre-ordering. Sigh. Roll on March 2007.

They blame the 360 launch, so they have a list where they are/were going to call us when we could come in and pre-order. Keep in mind though that even when pre-ordering they do not guarantee you will get a unit on the 17th. So yes, it was a pre pre-order list,

they had those list for the 360 as well... at least in my store. And it does not mean anything, just they will call you when pre orders open, but whoever shows up 1st with the $100 gets the preorder spot, independently of the list.

News must have spread like wildfire because I left for work early this morning to swing by a Gamestop on the way.

At 7:30 AM, there were about 10 people camping out in front. Store opens at 10 AM.

This is in Silicon Valley.

I got mine preordered (second in line). I got there at about 6 am.

There was a store in Eagan (a suburb in minnesota) that had people camping out starting last night, apparently. The store I went to had about 10 people by the time they let us in (and the store was going to take 12 preorders).

I'm quite happy I don't have to bother trying to camp out come launch day!

Heh, I wasn't that worried about this, I only wanted one to ebay. I left my house late and got to the first gamestop like 2 minutes after they opened. There were about 4-5 people in a line inside the store, it was very casual and like 3 of them were female. I took position at the back and some guy at front says "you here for PS3?" I was like yeah. He was like it's sold out, he seemed to be more a customer than a employee. I asked how many they got he said 5. There are two other gamestops in town one is pretty close so I decided to check there. As I drove off I thought the guy was kinda odd, why where people still in line in front of me if they were sold out? Because one lady got right behind me. Basically I had a slight suspiscion I just got lied to by a customer. But, then again the gamestop employees were right there so surely they would have said something.

So anyway I got to the next one, this is maybe 10 or 15 after 10 now, there was no line, I walked right up, asked, and the guys was like sure. So I got in!! I was #13 out of 16 slots.

He explained it like this, if they get 16 as corporate said they would, then I am guaranteed a system. But he said say they send only 8, then I dont get one, the first 8 people do. Although I guess if some of them dont pay within the allotted time, some people further down get a shot. But, I am counting on them getting 16. Or at least I am in the top 13.

Another old guy walked up behind me to get one too. He was old too, like 50, so probably a scalper like me. There's no way I can justify $600 for a system. Especially when I have another machine that can do basically the same thing already. In the past maybe, but now I am saving money and whatnot. I would love a PS3 and all, but it's like I said I cannot just blow my money anymore either. Another guy gave me a spiel that I should pre-order Resistance, I was thinking, ebay son, haha.

So far I have a Wii (amazon), HD-DVD (EBworld) add on for 360, and now this PS3 pre-ordered all most likely slotted for ebay. Hell I'll buy your tickle me elmo if you got extra too..j/k.

So anyway, pretty cool.

heh. I was 2nd and then got back at the end of the line and got the last one of 8. He made sure everyone else got one first before letting me get my second
