Legend
The combat system in the first GoW wasn't very deep, especially compared to Japanese action games like DMC3. But the second was pretty deep. Still not as deep as DMC, but I enjoyed the second far more than the first. It was longer, had a better combat system, better visuals, and the same great story telling. Both games lacked replay value, but at least the second one was decently long. I'm a pretty big fan of third-person action games, and I would rank GoW2 up there with the best of them. DMC3 is still my favorite action game, quite possibly my favorite game of all time.Well, I've played the series on PS2 and PSP, and while good, is not that impressive except in regards to graphics and perhaps story.
The combat gameplay is not as thrilling or deep as certain Japanese action games, and IMO having QTE's everywhere in a game are a step back rather than a step forward for gameplay.
It is probably the best Western action game though, and has strengths in areas other that gameplay.
