Yes, yes and yes. Makes me curious about how many are on the development team or if the work is outsourced. The Blog was designed and updated by CNP, but I don't know how much of a hand they continue with it's development so I wonder if it is the same for the main site.

I have a feeling the team behind the web integrated stuff is extremely small, in comparison to say, what MS has.

Even smaller so since they had cutbacks, and have shifted a lot of people over to the "Home" project.

What cutbacks have happened in the gaming division? Also Home can be expanded to a whole web infrastucrute logistically, so moving people over to Home doesn't necessarily mean they've been taken off developing web services, only that those services would be being integrated into Home perhaps as well.

It's hard to say. So many things could go wrong. :)

If I were to hazard a guess (and I can be very wrong), it is probably outsourced. The smaller team that maintains the site now may not know the code well enough to change it at will. It is also possible that some members of the original team may have moved on. There is probably a separate in-house team to oversee the operation. Overall, the team size may not be "small".

I would be very very surprised if it were a dominant in-house team. In-house teams can usually make small web tweaks quickly. Based on the snail pace, they seem to be following the traditional waterfall model or vendor-client (aka cover-your-*ss) requirement gathering methodology.

EDIT: To be fair, I think the scope of the "website --> PSN evolution" may be huge. e.g., Ultimately, there may be CRM integration involved (playstation.com support is actually pretty good). However, I also believe that the web front can be decoupled from the backend more to speed rollout. These changes do not need to be in-sync with PS3 firmware too.

By far the biggest bit of work they've had to do was getting the PSN id integration into the Playstation.com websites in a secure manner. Since that has been accomplished, I think things have been moving along at a fair pace actually.

The PSN Id integration sure took a long time, and it's region specific (Stupid ).

The trophy integration came faster but not fast enough given that it's only a sync job + UI.

The friends list wasn't even improved (Can't sort from web using different criteria).

The Portable id tag still does nothing when someone else click on it (e.g., http://www.us.playstation.com/PSN/Users/tha_con does not go to his profile)

Given the ambitious Home vision, the web concept is lackluster. There are much more people on the web than in Home. Given their current fragmented approach, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony gets their front teeth knocked out in the web community area for the next Game OS revision. :devilish:

Well, it's not relaly "there". I think they wrote their own code that logs into your PSN account on Playstation.com and pulls your data off there.

The thing is, this is only a one time use, so it doesn't update in real time.

I tried it yesterday and still haven't seen the trophy card yet, lol.

But, if you read the FAQ (I think that's where I saw it) it says PSN information is not stored, it is "discarded once necessary information is retrieved". So, that leads me to believe it's a one time thing, and you have to submit for updates.

This is still more accurate and easier to sort though than manually adding all those trophies.

It's supported officially by eu.playstation.com:
http://www.playfire.com/trophies/

Our good friends at Sony have allowed us to reveal the design for the upcoming official Sony PSN Portable ID! Scheduled to hit very soon, we're all excited at Playfire, and cannot wait to try it out! The ID will be from eu.playstation.com and it'll update automatically based on the Portal.

If you like, you can still use the manual Playfire card to show off your trophies until this one comes out: it's right here

The current one is manual. Sounds like the real one will be automated.

Is this the end of the Playfire Trophycard?

No way, definitely not! This is just the start. We're going to be building some amazing things in the near future using the PSN trophy data, and releasing it for you the Playfire members.

The official ones are up in Europe. You can use them using your U.S. account as well. You do have to log in first to make some settings changes though ... (enable showing trophies on the card etc.)

Here's mine in the most expanded version:

I noticed by the way that in my B3D profile panel on the left my XBOX Live Gamercard doesn't work either.

Okay, signed in to uk.playstation.com using my US PSN id and created the Portable ID tag:

They might as well combine their web effort. Silly Sony divisions.

I agree with this a million times over. I just don't get it, consolidate, share...The EU site is MUCH faster, sortable friends list, friends trophies displayed in friends list as well, sortable trophies, "customizable" portable id, and quick view where it list your latest trophies and your top 10 friends (you select them). They really should let the EU web team lead this effort on all accounts.

I too pulled my card:

Here's mine :)
Sony should update the look of the XMB ID card to something more eye appealing too.
