Possible Xbox 2 names

This is strange that names for xbox 2 have been trademarked and leaked on the net the same day as new Gameboy/DS names.

Prospective names for the next-generation Xbox were allegedly leaked, leaving many to wonder what the fairly impenetrable acronyms might stand for.

Microsoft is known to be wary of calling the new console the "Xbox 2", lest it be perceived as inferior to the "PlayStation 3". Surprisingly, though, the supposedly popular title of "Xbox Next" does not appear on the following list of suggestions:

Xbox 2
Xbox E
Xbox EV
Xbox FS
Xbox HD

247, WTF???? Along with xbox, that'd be seven syllables, way too clumsy to pronounce. For a red herring, this name is exceedingly dumb.

360 seems equally moronic, what happened to the other 248 iterations? "HD" just smells of HDTV-hype, the name is particulary misleading if the unit actually won't have a HD incorporated as has been rumored for quite a while now...

The one I like the most is EV; it just feels nice and balanced. Rolls easily off the tongue too.

That would be stupid. HDTV may be a small but fast-growing part of the installed base. By 2009 or 2010, it could be fairly significant, although probably still in a minority (>50%) of households.

If any of those names are given to the successor of the Xbox then it will fail in all regions even with the greatest marketing. Xbox 2 will be a fine name given that it would be the second one. If they named it Xbox 3 then many people would see they are trying to mimick Sony in a market they want to take so badly.

those are all terrible names IMO. Xenon is the best so far. I'd like MS to get rid of the 'box' part, in any name for their next console.

Hehe, I still like my Xbox Advance idea... That way, about a year and a half later after release, MS could release a smaller, foldable version of the hardware called Xbox Advance SP...
