DRM is indeed a content/store thing. I presume Sony decided to implement a standardised DRM unlike for example what exists with MP3s, which is a format that supports DRM but where there are many incompatible schemes. I think we got here because of an assertion that Sony create storage mediums to push their DRM, but I don't think they ever have. You expect them to be interested in DRM though given their music and movie arms.It was Sony's proprietary format, the only one they sold, and they sold it with DRM enabled meaning the files couldn't be shared across devices. I had a Sony Walkman, bought one album off Connect, and lost it when Sony closed the store.
