Playstation 5 [PS5] [Release November 12 2020]

Hopefully none. Cause there won't be one. There is no real justification for a pro model
pro model with dedicated RT units, and 3D bluray / PSVR2 movie theater mode could work

just a wee bit faster than non pro, but with RT blings with 60fps perf this time. for some games, RT blings can be pretty transformative.

They might as well wait until ps6 for such things. Maybe amd will have the technology for it then. Splitting the market isn't justified.

They need to sell PS5’s first and then think about a new one. These things are shelving up in stores atm.
Are you saying everything available to buy isn't in demand? As of 1 November Sony had sold 25m PS5s, it's obviously in demand.

Whatever the demand is for a particular product, the production ideally wants to closely track sales so products are available to buy. You don't want demand to outpace supply because those are lost sales and you don't want to over produce unless you are expecting a spike in sales, say as holidays.

Apple sell hundreds of millions of devices yet they are rarely unavailable.

When they released sold in and sold out number with PS4 the world stock was around 2 millions unit and the console was easily available everywhere in the world at any retailer.

hopefully the new external disk means new (slimmer) diskless PS5 with more USB C ports
Now that's what I want. It's too far in the future but... what I'd really love to see is a 3nm PS5 slim. What are the limits of minimizing the technology footprint without compromise

What does that mean, no built in storage and you run off external drives?

I thought PS5 had ultra fast SSD built in.

Aren't games developed assuming caching from the SSD?

??? What are you talking about. The PS5 doesnt read from the disc drive, the games are auto installed from the disc to the storage unit. in this case ssd

I love that you think that the drive will use a standard USB C port. This is the company that has a custom port for it's external web cam

There's no other way to make it also compatible with current pss5 digital edition

EDIT:
im dumb. they could use USB A instead of USB C. Assuming PS5 USB A able to provide enough power.

I meant disc, not disk

sorry for the confusion
