Well, the gauntlet has been thrown down.......XBox360 becomes XBox180......half the power....and running 180 degrees from the competition. At least fairweather MS fanboys are. Been browsing some of the XBox forums and some of them are in a suspension of disbelief, frankly can't say i blame 'em. We'll see if the paper differences pan out at all.

You're either joking or an idiot.
Well at TXB people are having a laugh with sony's specs(and the look of the console and controller) so i don't know which forums this guy is looking...

The GTA thing is Huge if it becomes official though..

Okay, after having been lost for words after reading the official press release, this is what I have to say:

+ like the design in the upright position (vertically)
+ am very surprised with the interfaces
+ memorysticks can be used - brilliant (never thought it would be possible)
+ absolutely killer press release from a marketing perspective (love the comments by devs)
+ Square seems to be on board with Final Fantasy
+ nice resolution, but most importantly, I see a mention of 60 Hz. Framerate > resolution IMO. ;)

+/- spec sheet as I expected more or less, though a bit sceptical with bandwidth also...

- fugly controller. Where the f*** did my Dual Shock go? :devilish: I sincerely hope there will be other (DS shaped) controllers compatible...

Can't wait to see first screens or footage off that Getaway demo...

The only thing that DID shock me and that seemingly everyone ignored is Sony's confirmation that PS3 will use a 6X BlueRay drive...

I think that's a big whammy, in light of all the HDDVD, joined format talks, whatever's going on at the moment...

I've only seen that posted in one place so i dunno how true that is

Having GTA at launch isnt the same as having "GTA EXCLUSIVE AT LAUNCH"

VRAM 22.4GB/s
RSX 20GB/s (write) + 15GB/s (read)
SB 2.5GB/s (write) + 2.5GB/s (read)

Soooo. If I understood that correctly RSX<>GDDRAM is 22.4GB/s, RSX<>XDRAM is 20GB/s (write) respectively 15GB/s (read).

What the heck is SB? is it Bandwith to the IO-Peripherials (LAN, US, IDE )

The Ps2`s GS had actually 40+ GB/s to its static Ram - so I take either the GS is included or the RSX has some special measures to counter its meager 22 GB/s (Some sort of big Cache maybe???)

Flex-IO has 70GB/s (should be shared between IO and GPU). Cant figure out how that should add up.

Considering you can use old PSone controllers on the PS2, hopefully you can just throw the boomerang to your dog and use the good ol DS2 instead.

IGN's just confirmed Metal Gear 4 for PS3.

Footage of "The Getaway" is being shown as well.

Details are still coming in, but the early word is that the thing is bloody amazing and looks like no digital recreation of London ever has.

They also ran the computer generated Spider-Man model from the actual Spider-Man 2 movie in real-time on PS3. Amazing.

This link talks about Getaway and Spider-Man.

From IGN.cOM:
Still reporting live from the Sony pre-E3 conference, we can confirm that Metal Gear Solid 4 has been officially announced for the PlayStation 3. SCEA president Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai delivered the good news today, just moments after Sony confirmed and revealed the PlayStation 3 console, scheduled to debut in spring of 2006.

While we've known for a while now that MGS4 was in development, this is the first official confirmation that the game is for the PS3.

Very few details are known yet, apart from Hideo Kojima taking a slightly more-distant role in development, and that the game uses a theme of "No Place to Hide!" Given the series' stealthy focus, this could indicate a fundamental change in direction for the franchise, or at the very least, some tasty gameplay enhancements.

We'll be back with more as soon as we have it.

At the Sony E3 2005 press conference Square-Enix just showed a Final Fantasy VII trailer running on PS3.

The demo depicted the introduction sequence to the original Final Fantasy VII, but was titled "Technical Demo for PS3." This means that it may or may not turn into an actual game. The PS3 can finally deliver Final Fantasy the way it was meant to be delivered -- just like the CG cutscenes.

The demonstration was a complete recreation of the beginning to Final Fantasy VII using some "awesome, awesome" graphics. It's an exact duplicate of the original game. It could even be a full recreation.

UPDATE: There will not be a Final Fantasy VII remake for PS3. Repeat, there will not be a remake. But, there will be a new Final Fantasy game. We'll have info on that as it happens.

Sony has mentioned in the past that its new handheld and its upcoming console would get along together, but it wasn't until the big unveiling of the PS3 that concrete details have been available on how this will come together.

In its PS3 unveiling, SCE announced that the PlayStation 3 would have support for USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and online networking. Those first two are the biggest concerns for PSP owners, as Sony officially confirmed that the Wi-Fi configuration of the PS3 would allow the PSP to wirelessly connect with the home console. No wires, no connectors, no muss, no fuss. Of course, the PSP also has outlets for the USB 2.0, which might allow for corded connections as well as wireless, if necessary.

PSP won't just be used for wireless file transfers -- according to the official specs for the system, the PSP can be used as a controller for the console. Whether PSP will be used as a PS3 controller much is up to developers -- the GBA and GameCube got along great together, and the PSP obviously has a lot more capable hardware to do interesting things than that duo. Whether PS3 developers enjoy that gimmick of a system with a full-color screen or else decide to stick to the more complicated PS3 controller configuration is a matter we will find out in time.

Seems like they stole the idea from Nintendo....

That controller looks horrible. First the crappy analog nub on the PSP and now this controller. I had a batwing controller once and I hated the wait it felt.

How hard will it be for the XBOX 360 to match the 1080P standard output or is not worth it?

London boy

I think its a 1x bluray drive and i believe the people who posted that mixed up the 6x the storage of a dvd with the actual speed of the unit .
