Ok, now my question is, how do you arrive at 168? And it also doesn't account for the 218, which is also 7 SPE @ 3.2GHz ;)

You made all that fuss earlier just to turn around and troll the PS3 thread yourself jvd. Good going there, bud. Why don't you take the damage contol to the 360 thread, though? PEACE.

Considering the PS and the PS2 outsold any other console to date by many times, is it really that surprising?

Why are they using the Spiderman movies font on PS3??

Sony must really love their Spiderman huh, bundle the UMD with PSP, now using the same font on PS3...

A 1920*1080p FP32 HDR backbuffer + 32-bit stencil/z = 41mb. To be able to write this data @ 60hz = 2.4gb/s With 4xFSAA and no compression thats 9.6gb/s. If you have significant blending, you could double that. Of course, z-reads and overdraw aren't accounted for. I think there is plenty bandwidth to do it, but then you'll have the RSX eating up all of the main system bandwidth for textures, which could starve CELL.

It will be a careful balancing act. But like I said, if your shaders take dozens of cycles to execute, it doesn't matter how much FB bandwidth you have, since you can't write a pixel every clock.

That's one of the downsides of eDRAM FB. If all of the eDRAM is used up for the FB, and you are running very complex shaders, you won't achieve anywhere near your peak memory bandwidth.

No, it's not. With 60fps interlaced, you get twice the animation rate as with 30fps progressive (but with spatial artifacts). With 60fps progressive, you get twice the animation rate without any spatial sacrifices.

It looks almost the same level as PGR3 so I think it's possible on PS3.

You must not have seen it in motion to be saying that. Minor jaggies aside, Motor Storm is unbelievable. It's done by the Sony Studio that did the WRC series, I think, so it should be a pretty good showcase of what PS3 can do.

GPU/CPU differences aside, i'd like to use my next gen console as a Blueray or HDDVD player/Mediacenter (TV, HDTV) and Sony using Blueray is PS3 1 , XBox 360 0 in my book.

The problem for Sony is that the XBox 360 can work as an extender to MCE 2005 but this time with HDTV support which is what's been lacking from the old extenders. (And DVI/HDMI support which i haven't seen in a extender so far, but i might have missed something). This shouldn't be a problem for Sony to fix though, either through PC software or hardware.
