"Sony also unveiled the PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer" based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision, 1080p resolution, some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512mb of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has over 300 million transistors, larger than any processor available commercially today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process with 8 layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1000 total if bought today."

1080p is a standard ATSC resolution.

Isn't the XGPU 9 billion dot products? Should we even believe these numbers?

What is the minimum standard resultion required by sony to support? I assume Xbox 360 also "supports" 1080p...just likely not with AA without a large performance hit.

Oh, I'm sure they're both equally wrong, so it's pretty moot. PEACE.

Sigh, please do not buy into the marketing hype. Please lord please. And no, no concrete info has been released on X360's GPU.

92 dot products per cycle? this is a lot! ;)
EDIT: R500 should be able to do 48 dot products per clock cycle + 48 scalar ops..

Hey warrhawk is back.I feel like a good old friend of mine has returned!!The first bit of good news from this sony conferense,IMO.The rest were expected and not particularly excliting.

    This ,however,is funny:
Super Gory Wolfensdtein Style FPS -- Insomniac

Anyway having MGS4 is good(i guess) but things like DMC4,Killzone2(which looks worse than things like "gears of war"),getaway3(why?????that's like brute force2 or something)

Can we get mirrors for the screenshots linked earlier? I only managed to get one of them to load (which looked amazing, btw).
