Official Microsoft Japan Summit 2005

Just hacking through the masses will get old fast, but when there will be a good amount of RPG elements it could be interesting enough.
So where is Diablo 3 ?

Yep that NNN video was meh to me. Those enemies just keep walking into the character. What's up with that? Okay so this is what going to happen.

Your going to have 550 baddies walking into you using the same strike motion at the same time while you hit 15 of them at a time. To me thats BORING!!!!! Hey mom watch me hit 15 bad guys at a time as they stupidly walk into me, waiting to be killed. This is horrible. The AI should be smarter next-gen not dumber.

If the AI was that bad in today's games people would complain. Why is it that just because there's more guys we should care anymore?

I'm going to point out the obvious and say that the game is incomplete.

I have always kind of questioned this new 1000 players on 3rd person game kinda trend. Then I seen Heavenly Sword. OMG. Player actually fight you back. DeanoC please tell us that HS will never play like what we seen with NNN (regardless if it's due to completion or not). We gamers want good gameplay, not 1000 baddies with no brains. There two other games that resemble this stupid 1000 no brains trend. Kameo and that Dead Rising zombie game.

The enemys are packed so tight that they have no room to swing and fight. DeanoC are your enemies for HS going to be more spaced out so that they have room to try to kill you during open battlefield fights?

Some people are such Drama Queens

The trailer is short but sweet, intended to show different special effects and the different main characters. If you notice, the game even has boss characters, there was one point in the middle of the trailer where you're fighting this big guy all by himself. With the people making this game, I have faith it will be down right amazing.

People complain about no footage, and then when you get it, you rip it to shreds for no real reason. Wait til the final game folks, this was only meant to show the progress(graphics wise) so far.

Xbox 360 is due in 4months, they better reduce this cut and paste technique and add more life into the games.

Do you guys really trhink anyone wil release a game where the enemies just walk at you and do nothing? Think about it.

It's extremely obvious that the AI is barely implemented, and the point of the video is to showcase graphics, magnitude of battles, and the combat.

Look at the framerates, it's brutal, that's without AI on every single enemy. How can you compare to heavenly sword, when HS only ran at 5 FPS and was basically pieced together frame by frame, and NNN is realtime gameplay. If they had've implemented complex AI the framerate would probably be extremely low.

It's only common sense to know the enemies won't behave anything like that in the final game, it wouldn't be much of a game.

I'm still a little more excited about HS though, but this does look really cool, especially the magic powers and stuff, I hope it has some good RPG elements.

Using the ign article on the beta systems for a guide its apparent that the a.i isn't implemented as they have only recently gotten the beta kits .

I beileve tgs is in a month ? So by then we should see even more and more finished products

I just watched the N3 videos. Looks pretty impressive, aside from the obvious problems mentioned earlier.

Do you really want thousands of enemies hitting you at the same time?

It's all about balance, you can't really have a player fight a thousand enemies that behaves just like the Black Spider clan in Ninja Gaiden. What you want is the illusion of playing a warrior that defeats an entire army, not the realistical *challenge* of a lone warrior beating up an entire army.

Really, what you're asking for is really not better AI, you just want things like more compelling animations to maintain the illusion that you're battling an army.

Well yeah I guess I am thinking that. Give me the illusion.

I can't give an opinion on one part of the footage shown? People ripped Gundam to death. I just hope that the AI isn't like that. Thats all. Everything else was great.

Ok, can someone please correct me where I am wrong.

1> I thought the XBox360 was going to come with a HDD built-in (ok, maybe as an external attachment but that the HDD was still coming with every XBox as a pack in).

2> But IGN says:

We were a bit surprised by the size of the Xbox 360 hard disk in accessory form. You actually have to buy the entire top part of the console, rather than a little attachment. Sounds like a lot of wasted plastic.

So it almost sounds like the HDD is an accessory that is not a pack in. But they also say, "in accessory form".

Is this a different HDD (like one much larger) or what?

So what's the deal?

This is how I understand it.

when buying a HD upgrade/replacement the hd unit will already be installed in it plasitc case with you only needing to slot it in. This could be consider a large waste of plastic by normal tech people. But for those who don't even open their pc it could prove a daunting task to remove the hd from the plastic enclosure and replace it with a new one. In other words they are trying to take care of the n00bs of the world before the tech people. ;)

It is the 40gig upgrade model most likely

the 20gig comes standard with every unit

Yea its a whole plastic case thats sata so it just plugs into the top. This way you can travel with it . Go to your friends hosue and load up your saves if you want

I believe there will be a 40 , 60 and 80 gig version for sale at diffrent points

MS are using a SATA based HDD? Is that wise? Just speaking from a repair and reliability point of view I've seen a lot of SATA drives fail. I'd personally prefer they used a system similar to that of notebook IDE for ease of upgrade or replacement over SATA, but that's just me.

I don't know guys, I've been thinking something for the longest... Remember early on when Xenon's specs were first released and the HDD as standard was undecided?? What I'm thinking, is the first few shipments, or maybe the first few million will come with the HDD standard(sort of like the first 1 million PSPs coming with Spiderman UMD). What this does is 1, it takes care of the hardcore(early adopters) who are more likely to get XBL and will have a need for a HDD. And 2, it also gives developers a known install base from the get go of people with HDDs, so that they can create content for it with no worries. And 3, once the PS3 hits, or after a certain amount of time, I think MS will lower the price of the 360 and take out the HDD(to help cushion the price drop.)

So if you want your HDD to be packed in, I would suggest trying to pick up a launch unit. I could be wrong, but when you think about it, it would be good business sense.

I think you have put too much thought into that. They announced that the HD would be standard. If its limited time only, its not standard.

Why worry about it?
