One of the larger PC retailer in Taiwan is hosting a "launch party" for 5090 and 5080 on 1/30. Availability of 5090 is very limited, with only two varieties available:

- ASUS ROG-ASTRAL-RTX5090-O32G-GAMING (NT$89,990)
- MSI RTX5090 32G GAMING TRIO OC (NT$83,990)

5080 are more available, with prices range from NT$35,990 to NT$45,990.

(US$1 ~ NT33)

need to purchase with selected motherboard. Prices are tax included.

Yeah, no Microcenter anywhere near me. I've been casually glancing at various websites during odd hours of the day "just to see" -- no luck just yet. Also looks like ASUS doesn't have their store offerings any more :(

Nice. I hope I can replicate my luck getting a 3090 from Microcenter during covid. Will start stalking the local store in a few weeks.
Someone mentioned Feb 6 and more supply coming in. Chinese New Year is over tomorrow though not sure if the Taiwan earthquake a few weeks ago will have an impact.

I am trying to upgrade from a 2080Ti to either a 5080 or a 5090, It's gonna be a huge upgrade either way, which has me excited، but no luck fidning both of them so far.
You can buy this photograph of a 5090 for $3349.99

I love the bot baiting!

It's funny that GPU prices are higher than ever and still in such high demand that you can't even have a chance to buy one for 2-6 weeks. I know availability always sucks at launch but you couldn't buy a 4070Ti Super or above for at least the last couple months either. Also can't buy a 7900XTX like wtf is this market.

I wouldn't exactly call that high demand but rather restricted supply.
I wouldn't exactly call it that either. For a "paper launch" there seem be an awful lot of people everywhere with 5080s in hands. 5090s are scarce but I'm not sure that it's a sign of anything but it's price point really.

The market for $1,000+ graphic cards are miniscule. Both the 4080 and 4090 are less than 2% combined on Steam Hardware Survey. It's weird how much attention flagship graphic cards get when so few have them. I wouldn't exactly call that high demand but rather restricted supply.

It also highlights the issue with these new vendor specific "improvements" that really can only run at usable performance on the top-end of hardware. Things like real-time ray tracing and now MFG are just buzzword checkboxes on everything else than the ridiculous high-end market.

The majority of gamers have xx60 series graphic cards, be it 1060, 2060, 3060, 4060 and their laptop variants.
It's actually everything at this point except the 4060/4060Ti. Dunno when the 5070/5070Ti will be readily available. Ostensibly I think they launch later this month or next month.

I am starting to think the 5090/5080 scarcity issue is related to China restrictions and tariffs, how is the availability situation in China regarding these cards? It's very likely that NVIDIA prioritized all 5090D and 5080 shipments to China because after the tariffs they won't be able to ship high end GPUs there easily (or at all).

According to those same reports, at least 5090D availability was bad just like 5090 availability elsewhere.

I just think most of Nvidia's wafer allocation is for GB100 dies and they want to fulfill those orders first. Remember there was an alleged Blackwell slip/issue about 6 months ago. It's possible that had an impact on wafer allocation.
