NVIDIA Supply Chain Speculation

TSMC 5/4/3 nm production is fully booked for the entire year. Is Nvidia just supposed to not come out with any new products until TSMC fabs are freed up?

Of course not, but they should have waited 'till there's at least some launch stock to sell (and who knows, maybe avoid bricked cards on driver update in the process)

Q1 is typically the slowest quarter in terms of retail sales and shipments. I'm not sure if we really should be reading too much into what's going on.

I'm also wondering if the potential problem is being overstated at this point having been only 1 week. Also I'm wondering how much this is narrative/impression driven.

For instance the Intel B580 has been out longer and was "sold out" for quite some time with the only availability I believe currently in the US being a $300 AiB variant (+$50 over MSRP). I don't think the 9800X3D is consistently in stock either still.

There's a difference between shops getting hundreds or thousands of units and selling out and receiving tens of units and selling out.

So again, what's the conspiracy here really supposed to be? NVIDIA purposefully not selling cards? Purposefully promoting a thing that isn't available and they can't make? What exactly is it that makes this a conspiracy, someone needs to explain it better than what is currently being offered. Until NVIDIA releases their sales numbers in their next quarterly earnings report, literally nobody here has any details on what's going on with their shipments and numbers. This statement 100% includes all the other anecdotal pieces we've heard from various chain stores, too.

I'm kinda tired of hearing about how there are no cards and somehow it's a big NVIDIA ploy. Unless you've got something more sturdy than "someone posted this on the internet and it aligns with my confirmation bias!" just please stop already.

In case anyone in here is lost, this thread is about 5090 reviews. There are lots. There are more being created daily. This thread isn't about the general state of NVIDIA supply chain woes (or lack thereof) which would also include, but not be limited to, 5080's, 5070's, and a mega-shit-load of enterprise cards too.

Also if we'd have ample supply and cards would be sitting everywhere on shelves at MSRPs the very same people would be running around screaming how 50 series is a flop because it's not selling.
It's an unwinnable discussion which doesn't even warrant any sort of actual attention IMO.
Most of people who are crying how unavailable 5080 and 5090 cards are now would've never bought them to begin with.

Wtf, seriously? No-one has claimed any conspiracies anywhere. Simply that there are abnormally small amount of cards available at launch, which makes it feel rushed. That's not a conspiracy.

I do believe this launch may be particularly scarce. It's just not really possible to conclusively state that it is while we're still in the middle of crazy season.
And tubers have hurt their credibility by crying wolf too many times. The almighty algorithm rewards gutter press style sensational headlines.

For the 5090 in particular yes although warnings were given on that well in advance. 5080 seem to be about the same as always. And in any case it is way too early to say anything about availability or shipments as it's been only a week since start of sales. The last time cards weren't sold out at this point I even remember would be Turing launch probably. We'll see how big of an actual problem this is once Nvidia will report the figures on that quarter. Until then ithis whole discussion is little more than hearsay and anecdotal "evidence".
