I am playing NFS:HP2 since I bought it....a GREAT game...shall buy B2 soon and find out which is better.... :)

BTW last night I decided to switch to first person view....and my ***....I can't describe....it was so fast ( I had a ferrari)...insanely fast...extreme FUN. I have decided to play more in FP mode from now on.

Has anyone else tried this...if not, DO it now!@

 wait till u try B2 in first person... with boost..

B2 = Burnout2?

The Burnout series is fantastic. I am glad someone can still put together a great arcade racer in this post Gran Turismo world.

FP is the only way to race.. I have no idea why people play from 3rd person :p

You want speed? Try Rallisport Challenge in FP! :D

To see the purdy car in action and to get the utmost visual feedback of the car's slip angle wrt the road.

I have NFS HP2 for the PC and I tried to play the third person view so I could see my pretty car, but I just couldn't do it well. Not only does the in car view feel faster, but for me it's easier to handle the car. I do wish the game had a view that showed the car's dash though.

It relies greatly on whatever you have gotten used to first. Though some games are definitely geared to favor one view over the other (GT1/2/3 favoring 1st person view, as it should with its simulator aspirations).

OK! I finally played B2.....AWESOME!!! esp those crashes...

BUT I would put NFS:HP2 on the same footing as B2. Both are MUST buy. B2 has sense of speed, BOOST, crashes//// but HP2 has excellent racing tracks....some of them are HUGE....

Yeah, B2 is pretty lacking in the racing tracks department. Don't get me wrong the are different courses but some of them are very similar (all the Big Surf, e.g.) and the themes aren't very varied.
For B3 I want the possibility to tune the cars, hehe. Little bit of nitro here little bit of downforce there. :devilish:
For if they don't deliver, I might switch to NFS: Underground (if it's any good...) :devilish:

Only game(s) I've never raced in FP mode was MotoGP/MotoGP2.. I just couldn't do it heh, the sense of speed was just too much.

If they add B2 type damage and night racing to NFS:U, it would be almost perfect...and more traffic...

BTW anyone raced any F1 racer in FP mode??? :D

Night racing is definitely in NFS:U. :p

Normally, I use FP for race simulations with rallye sims being the exception: Since I don't feel centrifugal forces in games, I kinda like to see where the back of my car is heading  .
For Arcade racers 3rd person is a must.

Has anyone tried the PS2 demo of NFS:U? Only played for a few minutes last night and my first impresions weren't good. I only own a handful of games, GT3 being one of them, and well the Car graphics are nowhere near GT3. And when the framerate gets a bit choppy delecate touches to the handling are impossible, slamming you straight into a wall :(

This is with about 4 other cars on track. Concidering how old GT3 is i'm really quite disapointed. What did people think of Midnight Club II? cause i though that sucked too, the textures remminded me of PS1 games. Just before you all accuse me of only liking GT3; I love Burnout 2 by the way.

I really hope they can sort out the frame rate before the game ships, especially as GT4 is delayed. I loved the original NFS on the 3DO, probably my 2nd or 3rd most played game ever - after PC doom and maybe Counter-Strike.

Will give it another go tonight...

Thx.

YES i must admit that playing 30fps games (or games with unstable framerate) after Burnout2 is not exactly "nice".

might be a demo issue, u make it sound really bad...

still, i don't think anyone should expect GT3-4 level car models in a game like NFS...

That's a very bad omen considering the fact that NFS:HP ran best on PS2. Really scary... Is PS2 the leading developement platform ? If yes, it might a slide show on the other consoles :?

it's a frikkin demo....

i remember quite clearly that NFS:HP (the first one) DEMO had worrying framerate problems, which were then corrected for the final release, which still ran at 30fps but at least was acceptable.....

Right had another go with NFS:U demo last night and I have to say maybe i was a little harsh, frame rate isn't that bad but there is only three other cars. Also starting to appreciate the graphics a bit more also. It's still quite a way off Burnout2 level of polish. But got bored cause the demo kicked me back to the disk menu after playing each race.

But then I downloaded the PC demo and I have to say wow, after being shocked by the poor quality of the performance and graphics of NFS:HP2 on the same (virtually; XP2100+, XP2500+) PC I was plesantly supprised. Finally my 9700Pro looks as good as my PS2(GT3).

Overall, i'm now looking forward to Underground, but for which system?

 Did anyone else just burst out laughing at the thought that it takes a video card that is more expensive than the whole PS2 to look as good as the PS2?

i mean, i know PS2 got surpassed in hardware a long time ago, before the 9700pro (bloody hell), it's just very sad that software is only catching today....
