Forza at launch!

http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/11/4212054/next-xbox-launch-titles-ryse-forza

Of course it's just rumours in line with Always on DRM, BC addon and Microsoft TV.. but if it's true it would be awesome.

The Verge said:
We understand that Ryse will take advantage of the new body tracking improvements in the next Kinect sensor. Ryse is part of four major launch titles for the next-generation Xbox. Sources tell us that a new Forza title with "super life-like" graphics will also be made available at launch, alongside a zombie game and a family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics. We're told that the family game will utilize Kinect to scan a body and generate a virtual character in the game.

We understand that these four titles are a small selection of the launch titles for the next-generation Xbox. Third-party support is said to be strong in the first-person-shooter genre. Microsoft is also working on some improvements to Xbox Live, including a switch to currency over the Microsoft Points system.

Forza doesn't do anything for me, but one of the others might. More likely a 1st person shooter will be my launch title. I was hoping the new Batman Arkham Origins would be or maybe a new Red Dead game.

If it controls set top DVRs, it will probably be through IR blasters, not HDMI.

I think a lot of the crappy cable DVRs don't support the HDMI CEC scheme.

Umm. Where did you read it won't come out until next year? The rumor is that Xbox TV/Yuma is delayed until early next year. The Xbox Mini is still coming out this year with Durango.

Techradar.

The xbox mini is the xbox tv thing according to them.

And my appologies it says early next year not may.

When I was a kid SNES had incredible titles at launch here in Europe -Super Mario World, F-Zero -my fav-, Super Tennis and Super Soccer -very fun-. Imho, never a console has beaten that til now, and I don't think that's going to change when PS4 and X720 are launched, but Forza is a great title to have at launch anyways.

On a different note, Microsoft are hiring former Lucas Arts employees.

F-Zero was amazing game... the music the "Mode 7" graphics... perfectly challenging

/off topic.. and don't forget the sound effects. the noise when you jump of a ramp and that gorgeous thump as you make a perfect landing... man no game has come close since. Damn, I'm gonna have to go play me some right now! /off topic

Am I reading this right? Some of you are actually saying buying a less functional 360 that plugs into the 720 is a brilliant idea.

Maybe for Microsoft as I'm sure there will be loads of suckers buying it but not for the consumer.

Which is why I think vgleaks are wrong on that - they seem to have conflated Xbox TV with Xbox 361.

Doesn't make much sense to have a new 360 that doesn't play any of the millions of 360 discs out there.
Especially when you're also working on a diskdrive less SKU in the form of Xbox TV.

Hmm, apparently Lucid Games (made of ex-Bizarre and other devs) are working on a PGR title for launch, I don't know how this ties in with those rumours:

Note that that MCV report correctly reported on Evolution Studios new PGR like, DriveClub game.

I'm not sure why Forza would be surprising. Turn 10 are basically a Microsoft studio, no? That would be like someone being surprised that Killzone was going to be a launch title for PS4. It's not like Turn 10 takes forever to release a game like Polyphony Digital. And it's not like their games look horrible because they don't take as much time.

Personally, I don't believe Microsoft has any desire to sell DVRs. Cable companies are strategically moving away from them and moving towards "soft" DVR service where all the programs are stored on their cloud. I do believe that the Durango would be able to remotely control your existing DVR, show you what you have recorded on it, and initiate playback (for STBs that support IP communication).

That's what I've been expecting myself. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was some simple recording of non-game content. Just don't see it being more than probable.

See my reply to (((interference))) in one of the other threads on what I think of that Techradar article. Not much.

Personally I think for people to believe the Always On/Always Connected rumors so strongly, yet lack faith of a possible disc-less 360 is somewhat comical. Which is it? No AO/AC & DVD drive or No DVD drive & AO/AC?

It's just because the rumors pointed to a PGR5 by ex Bizzare devs being a Durango launch title, that's all.

Surely we wont see two racing games at launch.

There is nothing to say that the disk based sku will be discontinued. If you are going to sell a disk less sku the only reason not to offer a disk based sku, which is already being manufactured, is lack of demand.

The media extender part is less a concern than the number of tuners. I wouldn't expect more than 2, but 4-6 is fast becoming the standard.

I don't understand how you're still talking about a tuner being included, much less 2?! What sources are using that a tuner is going to be included? Only one I've ever seen was Pachter, but he back-peddled on that & said he meant IPTV instead.

Well, wouldn't they just shrink the entire existing 360 rather than making a revision that doesn't work with all the 360 game discs out there? (which from the PSP Go's reception isn't particularly popular with customers) Nevermind that such a system also doesn't fill the role of the diskless Xbox TV?

For the last time, there are no tuners in Durango, the DVR features present in the 2010 roadmap never made the cut (besides gameDVR).

Hardly, we have one outlet posing a disk driveless 360, who has been posting questionable stories as of late (since they've lost their star source, SuperDAE) against a myriad of other publications, industry execs and insiders (plus implied in MS's own roadmap and XDK documentation) saying an 'always online' console.

It's console rumor silly-season and the reason it's so bad this time around is because usually we would have had an official announcement by now with the release date only 6 months away. There's some credible and ridiculous stuff leaking and the average person on the internet (heck tech blogs and even some mainstream press) don't seem to either want or care to distinguish the difference between the two. What's most striking is that the source of some of this angst is Paul Thurrott and apparently no one bothered to contact him to follow up with more info.

Seriously now.
