Eurogamer have all the Xmas UK bundles listed with their prices...

I had completely forgotten that Intel had the controlling interest in Havok! With Microsoft acquiring a lot of realtime physics expertise across different hardware platforms, this may be a sign that Microsoft will really do something interesting with the cloud stuff. Crackdown 3 may be as a technical showcase as it is an exclusive game.

What will this cloud service do?
Crackdown 3 multiplayer is a proof of concept thing. Other companies won't pay for cloud physics for games.

They do not even want to host dedicated servers

They just probably want the IP. Havok has always been about the most platforms, but the most basic of physics (sometimes lol worthy).

We (work) looked very closely at Havoc and it's highly scaleable and very extensible.

I don't get the point of putting the xbox one on a fork of windows 8 ? Seriously, there are like 15m xbox ones out there . Why continue supporting windows 8 kernels ?

It might be easier to port the Win 10 user space (a subset of the the Universal Apps libraries) than to revalidate all current XBO software with the new Win10 kernel. But all we can do (unless somebody here has special access) is to speculate.

Regarding updating consol OSs, IIRC Sony made quite a big code drop for an old version of the BSD kernel they are using before the release of the PS4. It was explained then that that specific code would not be forward ported to the current BSD.

I am to lazy to dig up the source right now though....

The System OS runs in its own VM. Don't know what, if any, changes have been made to the game VM for the new dashboard update.

There is one hypervisor. It hosts 2 OSes: dash and game one. Game OS ships with every game. Dash OS is updateable.

Exactly. They can update the Dash OS to Windows 10 and it shouldn't have much of an impact on the games since they run in their own VM. They shouldn't have to "revalidate" games with the Windows 10 kernel.

Last bundle is a Fallout 3 & 4 bundle...

1TB drive & 2 games for $399. The $399 1TB bundles really make Kinect bundle look terrible. The Kinect, although a nice add-on, just doesn't feel like it's worth the $150 premium no matter how many games it includes. Glad I got mine refurbished for $340 when I did.

Bah, I don't know why people are so happy about this bundle. It's not Fallout branded, it's just a regular 1TB console with Fallout 4 included. Every purchase of Fallout 4 gets Fallout 3 for free, so it's really only one game. Probably the worst bundle of all of them, except for the Kinect bundle which is so patently absurd I'm thinking somebody must have made an error on the price and it was also supposed to be $399.
