Motorstorm screens

I wouldn't expect 60 fps and 1080p from any game...

Hmm, unless Ridge Racer 7 is upscaling, thats exactly what it's said to be doing.

As for the target render comparisons, yeah its not anywhere close to looking like CGI, I don't think anyone can argue that. But compared to its next-gen peers I think Motorstorm is more than holding its own. Its a really beautiful and fun looking game.

They've thrown in a couple references to the E3 '05 trailer though. Remember the Cabin that got rammed into? Look toward the top of this gif...;)

yeap! its looking good, if a tad on the slow side.

what troubles me most with this game, is that people who tried it reported that it was a far better experience for them when they where watching.

still graphicaly the best game on ps3 in my opinion. but is it true that it will have only 8 tracks?

...which is not TOO bad if the tracks are as interesting and intricate as the ones we've been seeing. ^_^ Especially for a launch game that looks as good as it does.

One assumes they'll be offering more tracks as time goes by, though one HOPES it won't fall into the microtransation trap.

It seems to have too many types of vehicles at once, how are they balanced? Different leagues, accleration, attacks?

Just going by the previews Ive seen, each vehicle has your usual strengths and weaknesses (speed, quickness, handling, traction, durability etc). But the biggest equalizer is going to be the variation in the tracks themselves. Ergo dirtbikes and quads struggle to handle on muddier, bumpier terrain, while the trophy trucks et al can torque their way through these areas. Because there are several waypoints on each track its not only about hitting the best lines but the best route as well. Smartly thought out track design is obviously going to be a big factor here.

Another cool thing is the deforming terrain as the race progresses, so while the trucks and big rigs really dig up the track those later laps are going to be more difficult for the speedy dirtbikes to handle. It sounds like they've got a pretty solid check and balance system for all the different types, but I'll have to see how it comes together.

It's an interesting concept which I've never seen done before.

man this game is coming along nicely based on what I'm seeing here. The lighting looks great and most of all it looks FUN! :D

I'm still disappointed by the lack of diversity in the environments though. I want beaches/ocean, snow and mountains.

Ugh.. 30 fps is simply unacceptible for a next gen racer... I really don't care what improvements the downside of 30fps brought - IMHO the priorities are simply at the wrong end and I am very disappointed in many Sony devs that at least showed their dedication to framerate last generation.

Well his expectation was wrong.
I think you're taking the words improperly. I'm pretty sure he meant, "You shouldn't expect any given title to be 1080p and 60 fps." I'm pretty sure he did not mean, "You should except no titles to be 1080p and 60 fps."

No you are taking what I'm saying incorrectly. If he meant, "You shouldn't expect any given title to be 1080p and 60 fps" then expectation is wrong.

Telling that to somebody now is worthless.

30fps for most game is enough for the large majority, that's why many of the games are 30fps, I also agree with that majority. 60fps is nice for games like GT or Forza though not absolutely necessary, as for example PGR has shown, rock solid 30 is ok. For games like VF or Unreal Tournament 60fps is a must. For Motorstorm which seems to be quite slow paced 30fps is all that is needed. I know we have been through this with you many times and I'm not saying that you are wrong or anything as it's just an opinion, I just wanted to point out that there actually are lot's of people that don't care that much about 60fps, and gladly trade it of for graphics. You are obviously on the other end of that line (at the very end).

No, it's a completely reasonable thing to say. Both 1080p and 60 fps will be hard to hit this generation without making some obvious sacrifices. Doing both, then, is out of the realm of things you can reasonably demand. Hence, it's not good to expect them.

Showing that one game does both is not relevant.

I dunno about you mckmas, but I still wouldn't expect games to be 1080p and 60fps... just because there might be a few here and there... it isn't a realistic expectation people should hold. To expect something like that would mean anything that isn't 1080p and 60fps would be a disappointment of sorts.

I shouldn't expect to get into a car accident on my way home from work today, but it doesn't mean it can't happen.

It's a silly semantics debate. It doesn't really matter.

What are you a Bobbler talking about? Two games are already 1080p and 60 fps. Now will others do the same? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'm going to expect it to happen when the developers think it's okay.

Nothing wrong with that. Telling somebody not to expect is the wrong thing to do.

those guys are improving in reasoning.
last week was "...no 1080p games for ps3, no matter what"

today is "...no 1080p at 60fps, no matter what"

tomorrow is "...ahh f* it, x360 has edram and its prettier"
