Motorstorm screens

didnt meant to compare them directly, just used crysis as an example of how good motorstorm looked to me because no other game on the pc comes close.

The videos for this game look very impressive. What I don't like though is the blinking of your car after you crash (I know, I know, major nitpicking) I really hope you can turn it off, I think it's fugly and it really takes you away from the whole atmosphere of the game.

Btw does anyone know the official release date in the US? I heard Japan was around Dicember 22nd, is that accurate? Thanks.

That sounds very bad :???:

There are many mixed opinions about this game I wonder if this is because there are various builds of that demo, if some people are more perfectionists than others, or if some are biased either negatively or positively.

Some are claiming it to be fantastic with no slodown, others find slowdown and other issues.

Probably a mix of everything :)

I walked into Target with my wife and kid today. Played MotorStorm for about 30 minutes. At one point there were 6-7 people surrounding PS3, watching and chatting about the game.

For the most part, it's an amazing and fun experience. I noticed that many people thought "X" is the accelerator. So they damaged their vehicles due to overheating rather frequently and got frustrated. I had to remind them that R2 is the accelerator and X is the booster. Then they just kept going and going. :D

The default speed is ok for me. With the gas fully engaged and booster on, the game can go fast (Think 'motion blur').

I enjoyed the game most when attempting to race (Optimizing the speed with boost, hand brakes for drifting and such). First person view is indeed more fun because of more abrupt movement and obscured view. As expected, the bike is harder to control than the truck.

In some spots, there are bumps that will send you crashing if you're not careful. I didn't see the "changing track" effect though (but I only played 1 track). Not sure whether the downloadable demo and other levels in the real game have it.

Now if you want to find technical faults with the game, I am sure you can (e.g., The audience is static; the grass look fine to me but I can imagine experts calling it out -- compared to Crysis and that unnamed Naughty Dog game; counting the number of flying parts during an explosion).

As a gamer, I don't think there's much to complain. This is a confirmed purchase for me as well.

Race it in first person view then ;) ...but I hated it when I messed up the truck, causing the warped front cover to block part of my screen.

Just a note, the demo unit and PS Store demo are different builds. Seems the store one is early and has framerate issues. The one you can download is a lot better!

I played this game in Target, it literally ran at 15fps. Made 360's Quake 4 look like it had perfect framerate!

I can confirm the previous posters note about the difference in demoes between ps3 kiosk and the one you can download from the psnetwork.

its smooth as butter baby :)

I *really* can't be bothered to read through 19 pages of thread, but is the motion sensing used as a sterring wheel? If so, i guess all racing games for PS3 using this system would be much more accurate and intuitive than those stupid nipple things or the directional pad...

Yes, theres the option to turn it on, though its gonna take some getting used to for sure. Theres also two times of day I can count that the race is held. First one is mid-day and the second is sunset. Very nice on both! Heres some pictures from the ps store demo:

Good to hear that. What about the other aspects?

Nesh, One thing I noticed from the target display is that it has you pick your vehicle while on the starting line. The PS Store demo loads your car atop the canyon before the race. Other than that and the framerate issues I havent noticed anything else but then again I wasnt looking too hard in the store demo.

Theres two classes you can pick. Motorcycles or Trucks. They each have two sepearte vehicles, with 3 skins for each. The skins actually do change parts on the model in the bikes case, with a female rider who loves to shake her behind while going over jumps XD

The sense of speed is really there when you boost. As you can see from the pics the motion blurry is exceptionally well done ;)

I don't live in America, so I'm not able to compare to any in-store demo, but the demo I downloaded via the PS-Store is really great.

It looks really good, has a great sense of speed, never noticed a frame-rate problem (probably fixed at 30), and most of all it's just a lot of fun. The physics are crazy all over the place adding a nice sense of randomness to the game. This is especially apparent while racing on a motorcyle with the larger cars flying all around you.

All in all this is probably my next "must have" game for the PS3.:D

Having played the instore demo, it doesn't look all that great. I played it on a 720p HD monitor. the lighting on most of the tracks in the demo was off and it looked very unimpressive. However, there was one track (one of the ones you could use the buggy on), which looked very close to the trailer and looked very good. It controlled and handled well. They need to fixed the lighting. My wife wasn't even impressed by the graphics.

Do you mean the demo in the kiosk by instore demo? If so, its early build, if I recall correctly, even older than the TGS demo, no?

The lighting? I think the lighting is one of the best things about this game. The bike track where the sun is almost setting is pretty impressive to me. The only thing bad I have to say about the demo is I wish there was an option to turn off the slow mo crashes, and maybe include a muddier track. :)
