Motorstorm screens

Need I say, this looks *Incredible*!

Oddly, whoever picked out this pic selected the same one that many of us waaay back in Spring 2005 thought may be realtime. This is a VERY small segment of the rendered sequence and is not represenative of the general quality of the CGI.

Absolutely. This is a great example of a game really coming together as it nears completion. It is difficult to call a racing game a killer app (outside of maybe GT3), but Motorstorm is easily showing off the PS3 as a premier gaming platform, much the way PGR3 did last year, and it looks really great now. They avoided the mistake of Mario Kart:DD!! by speeding up the gameplay and the overal quality, while there are areas to nitpick, is really good. It looks like they have made the right compromises to return a really great looking game, and it seems to play well as well. Hopefully it has a steep learning curve that rewards practice and technical skill and catches the infamous "fun in a bottle" factor. It seems to have the later already IMO. Love the concept and digging the overall execution.

New Motorstorm footage

Playsyde with the scoop.

Looks great. Not fond of the floating-flying physics (add some weight to the vehicles!) but the game is looking pretty. Nice 720p video :D

Anyways, playsyde has some footage from the Paris event, though I think it's an older TGS build of the game before they sped it up right after.

Mhm there are still some flaws that I hope will be fixed before release. The high LOD like some of the mud tracks doesn`t reach that far into the background, you can see it being drawn about 7 meters or so in front of the car.I didn`t notice that before, I have to check some of the new build videos again... There are some flickering lowres environment shadows as well.
The most impressive thing is still the lighting , even if most part of the vid is overexposed.
If they keep on polishing like they did before it could really become the best looking racer so far.

Wow. This game is beautiful. I hope the whole "demo on day one" is true. I'd love to see this game on my HDTV.

I really like this one. It just looks fun...

I love what the devs are doing with the music too by the way. Apparently they make it sound like it comes from an array of speakers somewhere in the valley (using some delay and reverb tricks). :)

I have been waiting for a good racer long time and this could very well be it. The videos look kickass and I can't wait to hear people's impressions on the multiplayer.

 Amazing, not that i ever douted Evolution Studio's though because of there amazing technolgy in there WRC game's on PS2.

They are a bit "floaty," but it's about the same with Burnout. I guess people looking for a few good crashes want more time to be able to enjoy them playing out. ;)

The floaty-ness seems particularly noticable when a car's airborne; a little like SSX is the way I'd describe it. On the track they do seem (more) pretty solid, with weight, inertia etc.

I kinda found the floaty-ness weird at first but now that I have watched the video couple of times, Its fine. Those jumps were rather insane though.

I'd like to see them include an option to delay the respawn of the player (like 10s or 15s) when they crash. It would create some interesting situations where other drivers have to avoid wrecked cars and make the chance of big pileups happening more likely. Quick respawning gets the player back into the game fast, but the crashes are so good it'd be a shame to not be able to see the whole sequence play out.

Best solution for that would probably be have the player respawn but leave his old remains on the track for a while to trip up others. Sitting doing nothing for 10 seconds would be aggravating and potentially place you so far behind there's no point in racing.

Lightning and color overall is very good, but am i the only one feeling that there's a lack of speed? Wich btw may also be the lack of speed that gives the side effect of that sense of floatyness due to cars and debris moving slower than what they should.

Yeah. The vehicles seem like they are "skating" on the track surface. There isnt much friction, and ground anomalies going on. In the target render the muddy track was uneven and full of bumps that affected the vehicles behaviour constantly and realistically, and in such an extend that there was some struggling depicted with the driver trying to keep the steering wheel stable.

This is non existent in the game and the vehicles many times look like they are being driven on a road full of ice instead of a bumpy muddy track with some rocks mixed in it .

They did a superb job though on the physics on other parts of the game but I think it is very important to do something with the way the vehicle reacts on the ground as well because so far its far from perfect and its probably the biggest part of the experience.
