Motorstorm screens

yeah afaik, the FP camera is still in. :) though I've never seen the ATV or Bike in first person in videos myself, just the buggy so far.

The only real first person camera I've seen, where you see both arms and steering wheel, was in a truck. The buggy didn't show it, or have I missed something?

Sorry to ask a silly question, but will the players be able to choose between cars, buggies, motorcycles and trucks?? How can a race be balanced like that? The trucks will always be slower than the rest so i'm not sure how people can win races with them...?

Am i missing quelque chose?

There are ways to balance those things. Hell one of the worst movies EVER Speed 2 had a motorcycle struggling to keep up with a big truck on road...

Maybe the bikers have to drive a bit longer route or something...

If they balance traction and momentum well enough, you can eventually make up for lack-of-top-speed with the dependability-of-continual-speed as you go through a course which rips itself up, becomes harder to navigate, and makes the lighter and faster vehicles wobble around too much, continually have to accelerate and re-orient, etc. (Not to mention getting bashed around by other vehicles. ;) )

It makes for some weird racing, I suppose, and may well not pan out after people figure out the controls, but games like this can always toss in some "creative cheating" the good ol' CPU AI way to keep the field more even.

The track modification and the naturs of the grounds (mud,dust,..) makes it difficult for light an fast vehicules to stay on it ,and it's worse every new lap, while big slow one are not much affected by it.

Oh right so a truck will be as fast as a motorcycle...? but at the same time it will be able to just run over the motorcycle or most little cars... Doesn't sound too nice, everyone could just get a truck and just push everyone else out of the track? There would be no point in using a motorcycle if it's not faster, seeing how easy it will be to get run over by most other vehicles...

only in certain parts of the course would a truck be as fast as a motorcycle, in deep mud for example, which then the motorcycle will have to take the high & dry road. See they all have their disadvantages and advantages, that for the most part balance out the gameplay. motorcycles are fast, but weak. trucks are slow, but strong. and in the different kinds of muddy terrain they are affected differently. Its a simple concept if you think about it, as it would apply in real life.

Ok so i was right in my first post, thinking that obviously motorcycles are much faster than trucks. Which brings me back to the point, what's stopping motorcycles to just rush ahead and win all races then? If you know the track well enough it will be very easy to just get ahead everyone else, avoiding people bumping you off the track.

....and if you skid once you have the whole field running over you(r remains).
I wouldnt be surprised if Cycles will cater for the more expierienced players, they should be way more risky to drive, but could be the best choice if you master them. I dont see anything wrong with that.

Oh i'm not comlaining or saying that there's anything wrong with it, i'm just trying to figure out how they've balanced the game. Makes sense now :D

Motorcycle is much more faster than a truck.

Naturally, they can however balance it out. In tough races motorcycles won't have room to move as much and can't take advantage of the speed it gives. Truck will simply run over anyone on a motorcycle so watch our back. ;)

In reality, motorcycle would win hands down but this is a game.

I assume thats possible if you master every track, but it depends on how much the mud slows you down, and if the alternate routes around the deep mud are actually short cuts. Theres a magazine article (I think in Edge) where Evolution states that they pay high attention to detail on balancing every vehicle, not just in the tracks, the speed, but in the AI as well (agressive and non-aggressive drivers you could say). Not to mention, if you choose... I assume you can customize online matches to be all one of a specific vehicle, a specifc selection of vehicles, or every vehicle. I'm sure things will be fine.

Perhaps a garbage-truck, though there ARE trucks that are specifically designed to go fast around a twisty track - and no slower than a track-orientated Ferrari 360 CS!

So are you saying that special designed truck will win a guy on dirt bike on these courses? :)

In the Baja 500/1000 (probably the most famous off-road race) the top 10 times are usually split between 2 wheel and 4 wheel classes. Granted those are endurance race conditions, but those souped up trophy trucks and buggies are pretty bad ass in their own right. Some of those trucks can approach dirt bike speeds when they're flat out, and they're obviously able to handle tougher terrain. I wouldn't say it's that big of a stretch (let alone in the context of a game like this).
