Isn't spring March, April and May?...

Spring doesn't start until the 21st (I think?) of March and it lasts 3 months. Much like Winter, which doesn't even technically start until mid December... it's strange.

Spring - 03 to 06
Summer - 06 to 09
Fall - 09 to 12
Winter - 12 to 03

I think that's how it goes, I can't remember the exact dates, but I think its the ~20th or so on the changing months.

:D I would think that when they say spring on trade shows etc that they refer to the more conventional meaning of spring. On the other hand who knows, they might be refering to the spring of the southern hemisphere, Sep-Oct-Nov:smile: ...

The Spring thing is driving me nuts. How come no one understands the concept of seasons in the Northern Hemisphere? Officially, Spring starts March 21 (Spring Equinox) every year and ends June 21 (Summer Solstice) every year for a long time going now. This is an international/scientific standard that I believe most countries in the Northern Hemisphere accept. When the Spring starts, It is the meteorological Spring Equinox....that is when the earth's axis is, for a moment, straight up and down (no tilt) and both the North and South Hemispheres experience 12 hours of daylight. In fact, if you time it correctly, you can balance an egg on your finger tip without it falling off. The meteorological Summer Solstice, June 21, is the longest day of the year for the Northern Hemisphere (thus, the shortest for the Southern Hemisphere).

Just thought I'd clarify that for everyone.

The Met Office has apparently decreed Spring starts March 1st because it makes calculations easier or something. I don't know if they're shifting the Earth's position to align the Spring Equinox with a March 1st date though.

Has there ever been more intrigue as to when exactly Spring is?

A Sony rep was recently quoted as saying "Spring doesnt start until we're on the market" so don't put away those snowboards just yet! ;)

Maybe Sony came up with a way to control the flow of time?

Certainly they wouldn't claim that Next gen AND Spring doesn't start without them if they couldn't? ;)

Just read today that the seasons are shifting, the spring comes later and later and the same happens for the winter and so on, so the season are getting delayed. Sony what have you done:mad: ...

You are talking about the astronomical, not the meteorological spring. The astronomical spring, if I remember correctly, doesn't really have an official date, as it can change from one year to another, we are talking about a day or so but still. That is why the meteorological spring is the one that is commonly used. Anyway this discussion is getting sily now...

No actually in America it's still Winter time NOW (March 4, 2006)! The weathermen will tell us when spring is and you're right it does change. And it is around March 21st give or take a day or two.

It's snowing all day here, not your typical spring weather... ;)

Well if 25 celsius sunshine on June 15th is still spring, then I quess snowing on march 5th goes too... Spring is march, april and may, and that's FINAL!!

No it NOT!! Go grab any calender and I bet it will say "Spring Starts" on a day like March 20th, March 21st or something like that. Spring DOES NOT automatically start on March 1st. What the hell is wrong with some of you people. Does Summer start on June 1st? Does Winter start on December 1st?

What ever happened to actual science? Why is there so many people on this board that can program for a computer chip and understand the logic behind a CELL processor and a Xenos GPU, but can't understand simple science?:???:

I'm well aware of the fact that day and night is equal on march 20-something and on september 20-something, but it's STUPID to say that that is the day when spring or autumn starts, why are yelling me that does spring start on exact one day?, when you yourself said that it start precisely on march 20... It makes more sense to say that it's march, april and may, because June 15 is usually really warm, and june 21 ist the longest day of the year, it's a midsummer party here in Finland, Spring is a transition period between winter and summer, and like puberty it's start and finish varies, but as june 21 is actually midsummer, it's really stupid to say that a day before is still spring. I'm sure I know more about simple science than you BTW...

So if you knew more about simple science than me, then why repeat the facts just to turn around and deny them? See the problem we have here is you just told me the stanards for season changes yet you turn around and deny them and say something completely different.

June 21st is not "midsummer". WTF by your scale shouldn't midsummer be July 15th?:???: And another problem we have here is that if Sony released the PS3 on say, June 5th 2006 people like you will be saying Sony didn't deliver when in fact that would have.

I say why not go by the scientific standards and hand those to Sony to see if they can meet them. Let's not make up our own standards, while denying scientific facts to see if Sony can make it or not. Why do that? What's the point?

Seasonal changes have more to do with weather than only the amount of light we receive...

June 21 or very near it, is the date that the day last the longest, here were I live the sun shines about 20 hours a day at that day, and in the north Finland it's up all day long for long time, that's why it's midsummer, because before and after they days are not as long.

as for that people like me part, well... why would I say something like that, when I myself am going to buy it, I think your F-anboyism is blinding you. However I'm allready little bit pissed at Sony, because they should have given us more info allready.

This has nothing to do with F--anboyism. There is no F--anboyism on my part. Why would you say such a thing? Plain and simple people here in America (I never lived or even been to Finland) assoicate Spring with that ever changing March 19th, March 20th, or March 21st dates. In Miami, Florida or Los Angles, California (America cities) tempertures are in the 70's all the time in Feburary. Does that mean that Feburary 20th is spring time there too?

It's obvious that this is getting no where so...
