    Are you PC-Engine in disguise?

He was here before PC-Engine got banned. And PC-Engine, in all his annoying behaviour, is totally different in the way he comments. Trust me i know.

As hard as it is to say, PC-Engine replies with more intelligent answers and you can tell that he atleast knows what hes talking about. Onetimeposter is balls out with his comments. Although I can tolerate onetimeposter PC-Engine somehow seems to be able to get under my skin and anger me...while winking like an epileptic along the way.

Ontopic: I love seeing these type of proo-of type of stuff. They designed this presentation to show everyone that its in realtime...I love that.

Kojima truly amazed me today. Anybody know how long they've been working MGS4 so far?

Well, the online mode going into subsistence was being developed for MGS4, but Kojima decided to use subsistence as a testing ground. That said, I'd imagine some time before MGS3 or there abouts they were probably planning things out and trying to acclimate themselves to the PS3 hardware design, I doubt they had actual hardware then, but I'm sure they were given some info on instructions set and various theoreticals.

Yea, but that presentation is also like Peter Moore presentation of assassin. They show a prerendered cgi, and then they stop at some frame and they start to manipulate with picture i.e. rotate around x,y,z-axis, zoom in, zoom out...

Uh, no. The overlays show display information and they were manipulating the DOF and lighting effects in real-time.

Who do people ask for some dude to accually play with it. Do you know how EARLY these demo's are? It takes them months just to create such a technical feature...and I'm sure this demo was rushed as well. I expect Hideo and Co. when they recieve the FULL hardware, and correct the flaws that we've seen in the tech demo in the real game. look at MGS2 early demo...when the final version was out...it was MUCH better than the demo shown.

Some of you are just not grateful that these developers (ON ANY CONSOLE) put their time into such a great realtime tech demo....maybe if you say how hard they worked from such a limited time to get this ready, you would be more grateful for what you've seen. The only demo now really should be playable with ease is the unreal demo...since it's been in production for YEARS on a PC with simmular GPU hardware targets.

Major, MAJOR slap in the face of the men who have done the real heavy lifting in real time graphics tech over the past few years. Kojima is a god because he took a bunch of things other people did and documented and put them into an MGS game? Please, give credit where it's due. Kojima and team deserve a lot of credit, but these shots show effects done several times before MGS4.

Kojima is not a pioneer in realtime graphics certainly, there are many names unknown to most gamers who deserve the accolades in that regard. But Kojima does have a talent for bringing things together, I guess, and with a grace and art and a "solidity" that is rarely seen in games. He doesn't throw everything into the pot for the sake of it, and he appreciates detail and the "invisible" like very few other IMO. He's standing on the shoulders of giants, as it were, and I think those giants would be very proud. And what he's doing is very difficult..if it weren't, we'd be seeing MGS4-quality everywhere, but we're not.

You can do all that in Half-Life 2's Gmod except the self shadowing... I don't really see the big deal... Yeah, it's real time, but it's also real time zoomed in on one model against a wall...

    No comment. :p

I already said Kojima and team deserve a lot of credit. I don't know what more you want me to confess.

Yep your right Kojima and Co. really didn't do much. No real big deal here Atsim. You know matter of fact it really doesn't look that great at all. [/sarcasm]

    How about not saying this.

Not really that much of a point. Why do you feel you have to take the sails from under his feet like that.

I apologize that I'm not a MGS fan and therefore able to look at things objectively. This wasn't the best looking PS3 trailer. Some of the textures flat-out suck.

Its MGS, so how s everything comes together in the end is all that matters.
The graphics so far are pretty impressive, but its still pretty much a work in progress so we can't really make any final judgements yet.

We just going to have see how Kojima and his team progress over the coming months.
