Metal Gears + Zone of Enders HD Collection [PS3/360]

Easily my most favorite mech game franchise!
Brings everything great from all the mech anime into a game. Loved the older versions and I am definitely getting the HD collection as well

Same for me, It's my most favorite Konami's franchise really. Yoji Shinkawa's work on the design of the Orbital frame is just outstanding. And seeing how well they reworked this HD edition is awesome.
I just hope the Vita version is still in the work.

some news on the final retail product

Zone of the Enders HD Collection doesn’t feature 60 FPS, but slightly higher on 360

http://gamingeverything.com/31885/z...nt-feature-60-fps-but-slightly-higher-on-360/

Zone of the Enders HD Collection never truly hits 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The 360 version, however, does seem to be sporting a slightly improved performance.

A test run by a Japanese blogger shows that Zone of the Enders HD Collection averaged 54.4 FPS on the Xbox 360 during cut-scenes and 40 FPS during gameplay. The PlayStation 3 title saw an average of 48.5 FPS during cut-scenes and 32.2 FPS during gameplay.

Cut-scenes

360 Avg:54.429fps Min-Max:28.5-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)
PS3 Avg:48.527fps Min-Max:22.0-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)

Gameplay

360 Avg:39.983fps Min-Max:23.0-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)
PS3 Avg:32.218fps Min-Max:20.0-60.0fps Tear:0.000%(0.000%)

There is also talk the the Xbox 360 features more motion blur. The PlayStation 3 version may appear slightly whitish.

should`ve waited for next-gen for the remake?
No, Im not kidding, a few games truly need 60FPS (at least most of the time) and this is one of em.

Hurm, I actually clocked this game on the PS2 back in the day (rare for me, I tend to get stuck along the way), and I can't even remember if the game ran 60fps (sometimes!) on PS2 or not. It slowed down mightily when the action got thick, it didn't just get choppy, it even slo-mo:d quite frequently.

Also: what's the release date? :)

tomorrow lol.

Looks like the patch is up for PS3.
Didn't took a look at it yet but I hope it ll bring better framerate performance to ZOE 2.
Also wonder if Konami will reconsider a PS Vita port...Would' ve so loved to pass time on the survival mode I spent hours on the original ZOE 2.
Am disapointed they put Enders project for next gen back in the dust...after unveiling it.

Patch is out in EU territories around 600 MB made by Hexadrive.
More stable 60 FPS
Addition of anti aliasing
HD textures.

594 MB update, apparently made by HexaDrive. Framerate now operates at a stable 60 fps making it much smoother than the non-patched version as well as the PS2 original. Only in the most extreme circumstances does the framerate dip and those dips are extremely minor.

- Post processing anti-aliasing appears to have been added resulting in extremely crisp and clean image quality. The original release did not use any sort of anti-aliasing.

- Particles effects are now rendered at full resolution. The PS2 original used low resolution particle effects in order to maintain decent performance. I cannot actually recall if this was also true of the initial HD release but I can confirm that particles are rendered at a much higher quality now.

- Those are the primary changes and they completely transform the game. The entire snow sequence operates at 60 fps a good 99% of the time providing a faster, smoother experience than even the original release. It feels remarkably good.

- Game as a whole is a hell of a lot smoother than before. Even the cutscenes run better than before (usually on par with, or better than the PS2 version). Some of the slowdown in cutscenes seem to be moments that were hard-coded even in the original.

- The VR Training Mode isn't laggy as shit anymore (the grab object segment in VR Training has some slight slowdown, but grabbing and swinging objects in the main game is silky smooth)

- Ardjet fight ran with virtually no slow-down at any moment. Hell, it was fucking up my combo timing because I was so used to slowdowns when attacking her, even in the PS2 version.

- The Anubis battle is like absolute night and day here; the game's performance in that battle even runs laps around the PS2 version (there is literally no slow down when Anubis does his burst attack, which lagged down prior versions of the game, and Anubis simply teleporting does not actually make the game come to a crawl; it was running so well that Anubis was just rapidly teleporting so quickly). I was really surprised about how well Hexadrive improved this one.

- I had a lot of complaints with how the Nephtis 3 fight ran in the HD collection, even at the game's first streaming, so I checked it out. Like the Anubis battle, absolute night and day performance wise; the fight runs pretty smoothly, and has very minimal slowdowns (compared to the old HD version where Nephtis simply boosting around slowed the game to a crawl).

- The 100 LEV battle still runs kinda slow, but better than the PS2/pre-patch HD versions. It's a shame that they couldn't get this running fast, but depending on how this fight was programmed, that could have been probably the hardest thing to do.

- The Compressed Space Anubis battle runs sooo good in comparison to how it used to run.

That sounds rather promising. Can you get these games separately like with the Metal Gear games? I really don't want to play the first game again.

Is the patch only for ZoE games? I have mGS3 hd on my ps3, is that getting an upgrade too?
It already looks fantastic :D !

yes the patch is for ZOE games.

I tested ZOE 2 and the game is light light years beyond when it was released with all those framerate drops.
It's only for PS3 version though. The smoothness is just incredible, and the crispier graphics too...
I wished they had still made a Vita version of the game.

yeah pop in the game yesterday night, night and day difference, love the AA. Kojima should have gotten Hexadrive to port it in the first place, they also did the amazing Okami HD port.

Btw, ZOE HD collection is on 50% off on Eu psn right now !!! Same for Okami HD too. I am so tempted to get Okami , couldn't complete the game on my ps2.

What is ZoE gameply like ? I mean what is it? I have seen some videos of it, but a gamer's perspective is what usually defines a game best.

Its one of the most amazingly fun mech games I have ever played if not the most. The fighting mechanics are very deep.
ZOE1 is just ok.
But ZOE2 is a masterpiece in every way. Short game but super worth it if you love such kind of games.
It captures extremely well the spirit of mecha manga/anime in both gameplay and art.
Who ever came up with the gameplay mechanics is a genious. The camera work and controls are unique and well thought to convey the mecha anime style fights. It feels so good that it looks as if the combat is choreographed even though it isnt. The boss fights are also brilliant
