Only MGS has two endings.
If you give in to Ocelot's torture, Meryl dies a the end. If you dont, she lives.
All MGS's have long endings. With a long cutscene before the final boss fight and a long cutscene after it. All put together its around an hour cutscene's and a little gameplay.

MGS3 ending has some minimal interaction though with slightly different outcomes.

Or you can simply snipe him before the boss fight, making his wheelchair explode. Didn't know wheelchairs had explosive material in them. ;)

Lol, there's a little bomb in any of the Cobras's bodies, that explodes when they die. You have just to shoot The End right in the head one time and he will be down, but as someone already told you, you will miss the opportunity to enjoy one of the most appealing duels in the videogames history: a duel made by patience, sthealth and honour (do not shoot the old man when he's sleeping! Shoot to wake up him!). And, if you accept an advice, use only the sniper rifle (you can find it also in the left path at the end of the mangrovies, just before the encounter with The End, Volgin, The Boss and The Fear (where you can shoot The End) and the directional microphone. Surprising The End from the back after a long and studied strategy, and freezing him, is unforgettable.

"Daniel Dawkins" is credited on both. Seems both sites bought his review and put their own score to it.

I like both Edge articles, they gave a lot of behind-the-scene look at Kojima's work, and also reflect his thoughts.

I also like the CVG/GameRadar review because it's the only one that answered my question about weapon library (Finally !). :)

I missed the name on the second review. I just saw someone else's name at the end.

Kind of weird that they'd attach their own score to someone else's review. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Is this kind of thing common? I don't read a huge amount of reviews to have seen it before.

He wasn't. Mike Jackson was credited on CVG originally. After a damning article about it, they appear to have changed that.

Edge's review is extremely well written. Sorry Eurogamer.

Worrying to see PSW, Edge, PSM3, CVG and Gamesradar are all owned by Future Publishing.

I read on Neogaf of a review by the same author appearing on Eurogamer and IGN....but IGN's score was an 8/10 and Eurogamer's was a 6/10.

I bought the pre-order. I don't often do that, but the Saga disc made me curious and it doesn't cost anything extra so I couldn't resist it, especially after having just watched disc 3 of the special edition subsistence pack - all 3.5 hours or whatever it was, and I couldn't stop watching until it was done. Storytelling in MGS is awesome, so I'll savor every bit of cut-scene and hope I enjoy the gameplay a bit more this time as well. :p Though I have to say that Lady Fortune and Vamp in MGS2 were better I think and I wish there was a disc like this disc 3 for MGS3 as well for that game. Maybe I'll just try to play it once more at the easiest level or something.

Psycho Mantis

1UP revealed some interesting tidbits about MGO:

http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=1&cId=3165577

MGO also takes a page from Western shooters such as Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 4 by including upgradeable skills (sniping, hacking, close-quarters combat, etc.) and unlockable characters like Old Snake and Psycho Mantis (complete with all of their abilities) as rewards for top players. The development team also encourages cooperative play with its new SOP (Sons of the Patriots) nanomachine link-up system, which keeps you abreast of your teammates' status and location while allowing two soldiers to share one another's skills.

Famitsu Review: 40/40

An overwhelming amount of quality and volume. Thanks to a lot of great features, long time fans of the series and neophytes alike will be able to enjoy the game. Even if you’re not so great at action games, we really recommend you give this a try. Furthermore, the content in the Metal Gear Online mode is an excellent addition to the main story. A game with seemingly no weak points whatsoever.

Editor B
The familiar sneaking action triumphantly returns, along with boss battles full of tricks and surprises. But even more fun is the ability to purchase and customize equipment with new abilities! The popular cutscenes are also back in huge numbers, leaving you immensely satisfied. Finally, playing the online versus mode with your buddies and linking up is just too awesome!

Editor C
Within the massive amounts of cutscenes there are numerous easter eggs, mixing both the old and the new. Some parts get a little verbose and wordy, but the end is really worth it. Also, because depending on your style of play, many different gameplay elements emerge, the second straight week of play is still fun. Another great point: the Online mode’s rules and system are carried over from the main story mode (?). You’ll want to play it over and over again.

Editor D
“Octo-Cam” allows players to automatically blend in, a system easy for even beginners to understand. We have no complaints about the quality of the cutscenes at all. However, many characters from the previous games appear, so if you want to get the most out of the story, you’ll need a bit of preparation. In the Online Game, modes like “Snake vs Soldiers” are truly unique to this series.

Average 9.6/10 based on 26 reviews http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11374094&postcount=18

IGN AU 9.5/10

I was worried when i read this:

Hideo Kojima is in the wrong line of work. He shouldn't be making games...

Then I jumped up and down when I read this:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the single most visually impressive game of this or any previous generation. It sets new standards in animation, acting and digital performance that really draws a defining line in the sand for all future games with cinematic ambitions. The bar has been raised.

:love::mrgreen:

and probably the most innovative pre-game load sequence ever.

loading will be fun :)

the game even offer 20% off every Wednesday and Sunday in real-world time, based on your PS3's settings. Nice.

Kojima is back basing his world in reality - no other developer does it better.
