Mass Effect: Andromeda

I hope they've improved the formula a lot since Inquisition. DA:I had the luxury of being released before The Witcher 3. Now ME:A has to be compared against Horizon, Witcher 3 and Zelda. To be honest, I'm not looking forward to it (which is weird because the original trilogy is one of my favorite things of last gen), but I'll keep an eye out for reviews and general impressions.

Not really because of HZD, no. Ever since they have been showing it I keep thinking maybe this is demo area for showing combat, showing this or that but real missions will have dense "real" looking areas but with each video its always been a barren empty place with a building?Barren place with cover spaces, etc. Lighting is beautiful but I see no detail in environments at all. Maybe its thematic cos Dragon Age had more going on screen but one would expect more with a "next-gen" Mass Effect ! I dont see it at all. And such cliche worlds too :( .
the only thing that looks positive to me is that the combat seems fluid and fun. Maybe they kept arenas barren to let the player zip around easily? almost seem slike I am making up reasons now. My last thought was maybe for 60 fps. I guess you guys seem to confirm thats not the case.
Agree, all the planets so far are boring and uninspired. Even ME1 worlds, made of randomly generated heightmaps were more compelling than what's been shown of Andromeda so this idea that you need better technology to make interesting landscapes is just a cop out.

This is fun ! Really good gameplay, mission and level design there ! Wow ! I guess I am in. :D
Dead eyes, dead eyes everywhere

Combat looks fun though.

Yup. This footage really shows how much better the faces in Horizon are during conversations. However awkward they may get in Horizon, they always carry some expression but here u can see dead eyes during all conversations.

When will we get gamer/youtuber impressions?

Not a fan of the Kett designs. They should either have just done full-on helmets, or just straight up bone/rock face with no discernible human-like features (eyes, mouth).

Also, the main bad guy looks like Frodo with the ring fused into his head. Maybe it picks up AM radio too.

The entirety of the game's visual make up is. Is there an explanation as to why the new big hub/place looks like the Citadel again? This is supposedly taking place in an entirely different galaxy where there weren't any Reapers (who were responsible for the mass relays) isn't it?

Convergent design? Apparently the project started in 2175, so it seems conceivable they'd borrow from an existing design for a massive project as such. Citadel with a booster jet strapped on. :p

Is it possible development started on UE3, and then ported to Frostbite, but in the conversion some face and facial animation data got lost or coordinates got mixed up?

Doubt it. I mean EA has made the switch to Frostbite ages ago, and Bioware already released a game built with the very same tech. Maybe they just reused the bone setups from the older ME games. Kinda like Square Enix did with Deus Ex Mankind Divided. That was a very shiny and detailed game, but unfortunately stuck with Human Revolution's limited facial rigs.

..Maybe they saw the render trailers of previous installments, by Blur Studio and else , and questioned whether should they even strive for such result, then decided to keep firm distance as underdogs.
