Hi guys!
Yes it has been quite a while since i showed up on here, and i hope everyone is all good!

What have i missed?

The thread is in fact console related... After a few years of life without gaming, i am back to business and finally purchased a pretty little PS3 Slim which i absolutely love. I almost feel like i've just come out of a coma so...
What do i need to know? Settings to sort out? i've had a look and there are so many things i could change on the menus that it's all pretty scary.
I mostly use it as a Bluray player, but i do have a few games:
SF4 which i love; KZ2 which i'm not too fond of - does it grow on you? i'm finding it pretty boring at the moment, a couple of hours in; inFamous which i think is the most amazing game... what else is there that i should try? I played the Uncharted 2 demo and while it is by far the best looking piece of digital entertainment i've ever seen (the detail in pretty much everything is scary!), i'm hesitant to spend my hard earned money for something very pretty that i might play once and then never touch again...

Any suggestions? Or just pass by and say hi to an old friend!

Thanks

Get Star Trek on blu-ray. :D

Other than that...welcome back. Tossed a stray thought your direction the other day, and then you show up BAM like a jack-in-a-box, quite scary actally now that I think about it, heh...

Uncharted 2 is pretty meaty, single-player-wise. There's also MP, which is pretty good, but I don't know how many people play.

Wow i still have one of the biggest postcounts on here!

I saw star trek but it was a totally legally downloaded copy... i know, blasphemy. i'll have to watch it again on Bluray.

I never got into KZ2, but I'm not a shooter kind of guy. I heartily recommend Uncharted 2 if you're into online. And it's not all competitive. TBH the competitive side can get very annoying. Played yesterday and for whatevr reason, for one round the enemy were immune to my bullets. M4 headsots - nada. Empty an AK47 clip - they shrugged it off. Even the usual one-hit kill sniper rifle, couldn't down anyone after 3 shots. There was even a guy hanging from the ledge in clear view, but a perfect shot to the torso did nothing.

However, coop with two other people is great fun (when you don't get some moron who's just left his PS3 connected getting free money for nothing :rolleyes:). The climbing and cover aspect to U2 makes it far livelier than any other shooter I've played. Definitely some of the most fun I've had on console in years. If you're not into online, it's still one of the best single player games you'll ever have. I played through three times getting the platinum trophy (although Crushing was frustrating at times. If there hadn't been a trophy I wouldn't have bothered).

What did you enjoy last gen? That'll give some clues as to what you may like this one.

Welcome back london-boy!
You might want to check two golden oldies Super Stardust HD and Flower from PSN. They're technical masterpieces and addictive.
Also PSN games Wipeout HD is a must if you like WO.
Pain is also fun for a while.

On BRD Uncharted 2 gets my vote, gorgeous and fun game, though I'm not so sure about replayability unless you're into online matches or collecting every trophy and treasures in the game.
Killzone 2 starts a little boring, but I liked it a lot after the slow start.

Metal Gear Solid 4, definitely, unless you didn't like the previous games...

Motorstorm Pacific Rift or Burnout, if you're into arcade racers.

Edit:
Don't forget to download a couple of free applications that extend the functionality of your PS3, most notably VidZone and the Photo Album apps. Also the "Life with Playstation" weather/news app and Home.

Don't forget to try the small PSN games:
* Flower
* Pixel Junk Monster, Shooter
* Everyday Shooter

Blu-ray games, some of my personal favorites are:
* Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves
* Valkyria Chronicles
* LittleBigPlanet
* Demon's Souls (Need patience and time to appreciate)
* Metal Gear Solid 4
* Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time & Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction

I didn't rank them because I don't know what you prefer.
Here's a useful thread for new PS3 owners:

EDIT:
Should also take a look at FatPrincess (PSN), Ratchet and Crank: Quest for Booty (PSN), MotorStorm, Bioshock, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Assassin's Creed II, Uncharted 1

Coming soon (to watch): Final Fantasy XVIII, Heavy Rain, God of War III

Flower just for the experience. UC2 is a must and totally re-playable (so is UC1 for that matter). Resistance 1 + 2 are games that show a lot of potential should they get the mix spot on for R3 but both are so much fun. MGS4 is also a lot of hours of gaming heaven. Heavenly Sword because it still stands out as a fine example of hack n slash (better than Darksiders IMO).

Warhawk is also a fun blast online but MAG seems to have the edge in many ways, and the Motorstorm series are much offroad fun! And Little Big Planet for content creation madness...

But then again I have 45+ games and multiple PSN downloads on my PS3, which kind of shows I can never make up my mind!!

v_v Ah... so it shall remain hidden. Was going to send you an invite to the B3D chatroom.

You can drop me from the friends list once I send you the "link" to the chatroom.

What's your PSN (PlayStation Network) account name? You have created a PSN account, right? For downloading stuff from the PSN store and playing online? And trophy bragging rights?

Is Geometry Wars 2 available on the PC yet? If Castle Crashers or Worms Armageddon can be found on PSN I would recommend those (watch out for Trials HD, maybe the best arcade game this gen!)

Try Age of Booty, great arcade title. I believe that is PSN--we are still playing that gem here! Easy RTS game that can be played with 4 people local and 8 people online.

Welcome back!
