Last of Us [PS4]

Whoa, that looks crazy good.

Looks fabulous! Facial quality reminds me of Heavy Rain. I think you can tell its not CGI by the hair strands on the top of her head, and the aliasing around the neck area. Trailer was just the dogs! Really intriqued to see how it all pans out, and no doubt E3 will see a swanky on stage demonstration.

Edit- Actually, if you look at the trailer on the EU PS Store is pretty clear it's being rendered on PS3. Based on this, i think the facial area in cluding animation and overall detail appear to be above U3, the rest is more subjective (lighting and texture detail appear pretty comparible) and probably far to early to make an accurate assesment.

Wow, that is amazing! But I certainly hope we will have an mature story, not an "oh, 200 Zombies, no problem let's kill them and then have some lunch".

Waiting for Dead State is becoming tedious (even though I could play Siren in the meantime). Especially after watching ABCs "The Walking Dead" I cannot see how many of those games have much badder writing (not that The Walking Dead is Shakespeare, but it shows that you can have good writing and "mass" appeal, just put a few love triangles in it and be done ;) ).

BTW, I would love to have a dark mood game with a "happy" color palette with lots of light! How about the mood is directed by writing and designer desicions, not "I can't see anything for the whole game". I say, let the graphic artists do their thing, sometimes I really hear in the meetings "what?! you used a bright color, fix that immediately, this is not Pokemon!". For example in the movie world Insomnia (the Norwegian original, not the below average remake); here the sun rays are really negative and you as a viewer almost feel the pain of the main character etc. It does not matter that sunshine is usally used as a positive thing in movies, in this one it certainly does not feel like that.

Cheers,

Mijo

Holy shit! That looks amazing. I'm just afraid it will play too much like Uncharted to differentiate it from that series, but knowing ND, they will make it complete and interesting on it's own. And of course, those visuals, and awesome mocap cutscenes!

Just what we needed. A rare zombie infestation game. Art seems nice, from the video, the engine feels like uncharted engine enhanced. Probably will be a very nice game to buy from bargain bin.

Not particularly interested. It looks like a zombie game (even if they're not technically "zombies", you get the idea). The girl adds the "protect your partner" aspect to it, which is basically an entire game of the escort missions that everybody hates so much from other games. Shades of Dead Island with the greenery and environments.

I'm not seeing much here to make this worth my time.. I grew tired of zombie games quite a while ago, I'm only interested if they're doing something truly unique or special.

And "captured on Playstation 3" could mean anything. This could be a CG movie playing off a Blu-ray and still qualify as "captured from a PS3".

My view is even more grim. It doesn't matter if it's zombies or soldiers or aliens or whatever, if it's point, shoot, duck&cover regular FPS I'm not interested. On the other hand if they innovate I might be interested and innovation isn't dual wielding weapons or double jumps or some such gimmick that has been beaten to death already.

The game mechanics could be interesting assuming there is co-operation between the man and the girl needed to kill the zombies or whatevers.

I'm honestly sick and and tired of the Zombie thematic in general, but this looks incredibly interesting regardless. Focus on the characters and their struggle for survival instead of yet another exercise in zombie mass slaughter. Make it scary, make it unpredictable, don't shy away from being harsh and unpleasant. Maybe this is going to be the game the fantastic Dead Island trailer hinted at.

It's not that far fetched to see a fungal infection that radically alters your physical appearance.

Though that just needed some surgery and Vitamin A to start to fix it.

Don't forget the abundance of shader aliasing in the outdoor scenes in particular - and of course, shadows. In engine rendering sounds right - whether it was realtime or not.
Right. Anyway, they definitely use an accumulation buffer (which reminds me of the amazing GT3 intro video..) so they can pretty much take care of all those problems almost "for free". When the games ships those cutscenes could be even better.

But yea, it does look really great.
Agreed. Perhaps it will make me buy a PS3..:)

How can this not be a horror game? Personally this pretty much means the game is dead to me. I have no interest in this ridiculously overused topic in videogames, movies, etc.

Well let's just say that this seems to be an action game where your shooting zombies, and not a true horror game. I would have preferred a real horror. Horror games are great for mixing the story in with the gameplay, instead of relying heavily on cutscenes. This trailer has that summer blockbuster movie feel to it again, which I'm not really interested in.

They're not zombies! It's not a zombie game.
True, they're people that got some virus infection and turned to monsters, but they're not zombies. Sure, some more originality in enemies would be welcome in games and movies, how long have they been enemy soldiers, alien monsters or zombies... hmmm.. I don't think I can even list any other types of enemies in action games and movies :)
Anyway, really looking forward to this, and even more so now that it's known Naughty Dog are the developers. Who needs next gen yet if the game sfor this gen can look as good as UC3 and what The Last of Us seems to be.

now that I think about it, ND still have about the same amount of ppl, and they got a second full team working on this game, does that mean they lost about half of the ppl sometime or since the beginning of the development of U3 like GG with KZ3 due to the studio split? That explains why its a little rough compare to previous games since they got to do even more with less resources available.
