Last of Us [PS4]

I find his video reviews one of the best. :) He's not in a hurry and he talks about every segment of the game [with lots of comedy, no matter if game is good or bad], which is not done by 99% of other YouTube reviewers.

i just burned 25 minute of my time watching joe blabbering how awesome TLOU is. and looking at his comment about The Left Behind and the multiplayer mode.. wow... i cant stop smiling.

hopefully i still can get physical disc when i go back to Indonesia next month :D

This game owes a LOT to Children of Men. They've pulled whole sections from that film!

children of men is that film where the hero need to escort kid and when they hide in a building full of refugee, an army coming with tank?

i dont see the connection other than its escort mission. BUt its possible i remember wrong movie :/

even if they do copy-paste thing from other works, its still awesome. Copy-paste from movie/book/etc to game is not an easy thing to do.

The core of TLOU's success is the development of relationship between Joel and Ellie. No other post-apocalyptic movie has something like that.

according to joe angry review, its like walking dead but with better gameplay.

for me the way TLOU present story, emotion, character development, etc inside gameplay is what making it very spesial. ellie sulking animation for a chapter, ellie happy finding comic book, ellie run away from joel. Joel shocked he was transporting human but then just like eeeh? oke fine... but then slowly joel keep getting helped by ellie and help ellie back.

then the other character that found gundam and made ellie imagine world before apocalypse.

TLOU have lots of cutscene but they also show a lot of thing inside gameplay. Other games usually forced you to cutscene and QTE to show a story. or worse... forcing using cutscene and QTE to tell a story.

I'm sorry but you can't ignore some of the similarities they are between them, they are blatant and intentional.

Without spoiling the plot of the game or the film, the people being escorted have an extremely similar type of issue, but you need to look past the obvious.

There was also a scene in TLOU that's pulled directly from the film and also another bit that was very similar to The Road.

I'm really enjoying the game, but I don't think Elle has a very convincing manner for a child that constantly sees some truely horrific things. She's a bit too stable.

Having said that, I do like the game and I personally find the graphics to look really beautiful at times.

The Last of Us has to be the best game of the last generation. It has a tonne of cliche, but the story is pulled off so well and in a way that only a video game that could do it. That deserves some recognition.

This is the one game on PS4/PS3 that I'd really like to play. I'd already gotten rid of my PS3 when it came out. All of the talk about the story and emotion has me interested to find out if the rumours are true, and a video game company has finally delivered a well written and well acted game. I have my doubts, because all other challengers have failed miserably. Maybe I'll watch a playthrough.

Can you post in spoilers? I've seen both Children of Men and the Road in the last 18 months but my memory is terrible and I really don't ever want to watch The Road again! :D

Have you ever seen a TV programme about children who grow in war zones? They are old beyond their years. I guess when you see bad things happen on a daily basis that young, you skip childhood and go straight to learning about consequences.

I think this was well emphasised in Left Behind (the DLC). Riley really had to persevere to get Ellie to forget the tragic modern world and try and relax and have fun.

There are only so many ways to tackle a theme, and considering the millions of movies and TV series made, they are going to start retreading old ground pretty quickly. I wouldn't be so quick to claim similarities are anything more than coincidence within the limits imposed by the genre.

When I'm near a computer and am able to write a decent message I'll explain better. It's definitely more than coincidence. Several points in that game I've been like "Children of Men AGAIN". Not that it's a bad thing, it's an amazing film.

The game was so. f*cking. intense... At the time I actually dreamt about being in a warehouse, sitting in a corner, praying the enemy soldiers would not walk into the office..
Other games afterwards felt so, I don't know, empty?

However, replaying the game is pretty weird..

guys, i just want to be sure.... i think sony already didit but im not sure.

PS4 games does not have online pass nonsense and locked DLC code right? So i can buy game from any region to be played on any account region?

i want to make sure i can play TLOU online and get all the bonus dlc for PS4

*im a bit unsure due to sony still use locked any online code thing on PS Vita (game on EU will work on US PSN but the included DLC wont be able to be used)

Don't do that. It's still a videogame, not a movie, even with the film grain.

It's a lot better to "feel" the gameplay and story with a controller. What makes TLOU so good IMO is the combination of stealth gameplay, exploration-ish with the scavenging you do all the time and the emotionnal story.
