Lair presentation on Siggraph 2006 30 July - 3 August

You're link doesnt work there. And its not just the oblivion/lair comparison's I found interesting.

I wouldn't think too hard. Factor 5 cares more about the dead rat in your father's brother's best friend's former roommate's basement than their own site.

By the number of times they've updated their site in the last few years. Though perhaps they've increased their frequency above once every two years (no, not really a joke) in recent weeks.

It's not bad to be optimistic about the e3 trailer but I think it's just better to wait and see what happens. On the other hand we might not have to wait to long. IGN is supposedly going to have some ps3 exclusive info/media next week. And GAFers are rumoring it to be Warhawk/Lair info.

IGN always hype and never delivers. I don't expect it to be different this time.

And, of course, you're a good level or two distanced from really "getting into" your character if there's to be any reasonable plot component, which is why dragons have almost always been mounts/sidekicks.
Some exceptions being:

I'm not expecting huge game announcements, I'm just saying they claim to have some info/media on coverage on games we havent been seeing much of lately.

I just said that we'd have PS3 exclusives, that events would happen, and that embargoes would end. I didn't say we'd have the second coming in there. LOL.

I just mentioned it to people so they'd know to look for updates after a draught. We've had those updates too. Gundam info last week, NBA Street yesterday, Full Auto today. We have more than that coming, but I'm not going to say how big or little it is. In the world of the Internet, people overreact to anyone talking about anything coming in the future. One guy complains about wrestling and all of a sudden we suck -- despite the fact that its the most popular single game in the entire IGN network. So screw it, I've decided to tell people when stuff is coming and leave it at that. They can decide on their own how big they want to make it.

It works out better for everyone I think.

I distinctly remember seeing the Lair videos from E3. They looked fantastic and if I remembering correctly weren't there a bunch of other dragons in the video as well in a night time/rain setting scene? They paused the demo and toggled all the textures, bump maps, etc on and off and circled the dragon for you to see what they are comprised of.

Not sure if you were all arguing the possibility of it being real time or not but it was in fact real time.

Like i said I distinctly remember seeing from the GDC presentation :D
;)

Is the e3 one supposed to look better or something?

Well yeah considering theres more than just dragons this time, theres air combat shown and other nice graphical stuff. The most impressive part IMO was the part where the dragon shoots fire out. It's still up in the air on wether its CGI or not though. Some argue its too good to be real, others argue if anybody could do stuff like that Factor 5 would be the one. All we know for sure is the GDC stuff was realtime. No confirmations on E3. Me personally, I think it's pre-rendered with some ingame assets. I've never seen fire look that good in a game. But if it's real, then...wow. Truly some impressive stuff.

well...take a look for yourself.

Man if thats real time I am sold!

If that's real I expect many people to be sold and buy PS3's regardless of whether the game's any fun or not! It does look so good, it looks too good. If real, the animation suggests mo-cap cutscene to me, and the more usual limited animations will hamper the fluidity of the look to something less gobsmacking.

If it's real-time I will buy Lair twice just to support a sequal. And if the sequal looks better then I would buy that game 3 times to support Sony buying Factor 5 out. ;)
