I was right, RE4 does have the GC's best lighting.

Is the bright white 'lighting flash' lighting the only kind of lighting in RE4, or does it have softer ambient light, or even a light source (light a flash light)? Just wondering if the game is a one trick pony, like NFS: Underground (where the entire game looked the same heh).

And yes, I've seen all the trailers, I just don't study them like some partisans ;)

There is a softer ambient light source zurich, esp. during the day which I would assume to be the infinite light source emulating the sun.

Is it known what "type" of control-system this game has, i´m interested because i couldn´t play the earlier Resident Evil games on GC because of the weird/horrible controls.

Leon is unfortunately still digital, but aiming is in full analog, no more static camera angles as there are 3 differing viewpoints, one being full 1st person perspective. Due to the camera panned over your back viewpoint, it controls much more natural & intuitively than any other RE to date by far. And the camera can also be user manipulated to examine your environment to a certain degree. Basically, Leon moves in the direction you choose straightforwardly. The quick 180 degree turn is back as well, though more smoothly executed. (due to the fast camera reorientation) The menu interface has also been redone.

I know this has got nothing to do with RE4 graphics itself, but is anyone here tired of game menus looking like they used to in the SNES days?

I mean, SH and RE games, and also DMC if i remember correctly, had such simple (see:crappy) menus, it felt like playing on my Genesis all over again! :?

Well they changed the menu a bit, nothing revolutionary though.

I wouldn't expect too many posts since this topic mentions neither Sony nor Sega ;-)

What was that for?

Oh its just something I've noticed... the Gamecube and its games often seems be ignored around here lately. Although, it now seems that either this topic is the exception or I am too paranoid :p

It's because, we, NGC owners, do play games, we have no time to talk about them :)

I leave it to you to find why the others keep talking about games instead of playing them... :devilish:

Do you need to have played the whole series of games(haven´t played none ever) to understand the "story", i love SH-series but RE is app different.
Btw looking at the trailer is simply amazing, looks gorgeous.

I completely share this sentiment. SH, DMC, Onimusha and RE really should get rid of those crappy item selection menus.

Your excitement is not the problem. Your need to share your excitement with everyone and unrelenting efforts to make people agree with you are.

There is nothing impressive about your impressions, technically or otherwise.

They do at times.

It is not.

Hey Li Mu Bai, why don't you make another thread posting your impressions from E3, and make some comments about other games as well? I'd like to know what you thought of MGS3 demo for example, or AC5, or demos on NDS and PSP, or any other game you thought was nice. I'm also interested what you thought MGS3 framerate was like compared to MGS2? VJ1 & VJ2 PS2 vs VJ1 &VJ2 GC?

"IMO" is language that denotes an unrelenting effort? Am I arguing with anyone who disagrees with my point of view, or more specifically my impressions regarding RE4? My observations were not meant to be impressive, I was referring to the technical aspects of the game that I found to be. While not using comprehensively technically specific diction, I conveyed how impressed I was. I respect your technical knowledge, always have. But you obviously do not have any grasp of character, or perhaps character is where you are deficient. I stand corrected upon RS3's consistency of their lighting model.

Perhaps you're too easily annoyed, & posting for the sake of insult or complaint is a complete waste. Maybe you should learn to hold your tongue? Or skip those numerous posts that exasperate you so.

I would marco, but I've seen posts here regarding both the NDS, PSP, AC5, etc. I did not want to be redundant, & impressions of VJ/VJ2 I didn't think would generate a sustained discussion. But for your request, I was completely in awe of the MGS3 demo. The texturing & sheer variety of trees, foliage, locales, etc. was superb. (superior to Farcry's diversity IMO) The pics do not really do this game justice, although the game still shows poorly textured ground as well as various trees. These are minor however in comparison to the comprehensive art representation. I don't like how the jungle is segmented into rooms, instead of a seamless experience. The framerate looks to be astonishingly 60, even with so much geometry being displayed. (though what was shown/played was an uneventful introductory demo) Of course this hasn't been verified. The animals in the demo didn't seem to be very interactive, (croc) other than to provide an instantaneous food supply for Big Boss via cylinder
pick-ups, by way of a digital dissolve effect.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked MGS3 demo. That and RE4 are probably my most wanted games right now, actually. There's just something about the atmosphere that both of them seem to get incredibly right, and they just ooze awesomeness in general :p

As for the jungle being segmented, I was at first put off by that, but now that I think about it, that way they are sure to get gameplay right, as they can still base it around overcoming carefully constructed and controlled obstacles, plus they can maximize the beauty of visual presentation, much like they did in previous two games, as they have the forest 'under control'.

No you don't overclocked, as the series is supposedly totally seperate from all of its previous installments. It's supposed to be a virtual rebirth of the series in many aspects, esp. from a story continuum perspective.
