Bethesda sells tens of millions of janky-ass, terribly written open world RPGs with last decade levels of animation tech. My guess is people are not going to give much of a shit unless the rest of the game isn't good.
Besides, Guerilla has never managed to tell a tale that was worth giving as much as a single fuck about, so I don't get what's so suprising here. I'm actually thankful the Dutch developer hasn't fallen in line with Sony's first party dev lineup of enlightened film enthusiasts who have to begrudgingly dress up their tv dramas with a couple of button prompts every now and then. They still seem to care about making games.
I have not played FALLOUT or TES for a very long time. Despite the high sales figures they have the worst game engine that I know. No idea what they are doing. I find that embarrassing that despite such high sales figures they deliver such a thing.
In any case, I will not buy a game with the Creation Engine.
By the way, I'm expecting Detroit with excitement.
I too noticed the twitchy freaky faces and characters when I first saw it all. It instantly pops at u and makes u wince. But If ppl can play Fallout 3 and 4 and Skyrim with its wooden ppl, I am sure ppl can play this too. Atleast the gameplay here seems to refined and solid and not just about depleting a health bar.
I feel if the gfx set an atmosphere and tone good enough, ppl forget the discrepancies. I couldn't play Fallout 3 because of the wooden ppl, still haven't but the world loved it because ithad a consistent atmosphere and the rest is anyways all about the gameplay !
Look at UC4, mindblowing characters but had no holding power over me because after the initial wows and oohs and aahs what I want is a fun game in the end. (again ppl love that too )
In my opinion, the game would be better without these scenes. It may be less content but a constant quality.
I like the gameplay so far but I also have no problem with open world games. In fact I even prefer open world over linear games.
It is by far the worst scene because they wanted to show a schizophrenic guy and it failed. Other scene are much better and main custscene seeing in the last story trailer are great... The scene is viral with fanboy not PS4 owner and only on videogame forum...
All people wanted the game seeing other video and understand it is one failed scene... It can arrive in any games...
Nevertheless, I find many of the ordinary scenes not compelling.
I think the random NPC dialogues are in generally not so good. Not only from a technical point of view but also for writing. Let's see how such scenes will be in Mass Effect Andromeda.
Honestly, it's like to judge the graphics of a game on one bad texture. Usually, the cutscenes looks better than in similar games.
I think that only La Noire is really better in this field. TW3 seems also slightly superior.
The worst part in this cutscene is clearly the VO.
Someone made a small comparison on GAF :

NPCs look much better on Zero Dawn from a graphic standpoint at least.
I also do not like it when the worst texture is emanated. But this is a mission and I have fears that there will be several of them. It is a mission which someone important must have accepted.
Resistively considered the technique of LA Noire was a bust.
The NPCs look good in Horizon. The problem is the animations. At the moment I find the animations in ME Andromeda even a little better. Not good but average.
EDIT: However the other new examples I find bad.

I'm sorry but I do not have enough time to answer so many. Therefore I finished my contribution to this topic. I will still read possible answers but for the moment I will not write anything about this NPC topic again.
