Horizon Zero Dawn [PS4, PC]

2ms just on clouds. They look pretty, but that's a lot of frame time for something people aren't going to pay much attention to. I wonder why they want such a strong cloud model?
Hey, don't forget that will need fast travel in such a big game, won't we? Maybe we could fly on pterodactyls in order to travel quickly?

Flying inside 2ms volumetric clouds? you can feel the cloud... So good!

Dat 2ms volumetric cloud is the new HDR:), yeah wouldn't surprise me if we get to ride those robot Eagles soaring through the fluffy clouds.

Just saw a gameplay demo at Gamescom of the lead character battling a kind of robotic Trex. Quite impressive I must say, fluid animation, nice motion blur and impressive graphics. The guy claimed he was in full control between the videos.

Pity they are still not sharing more back story.

I'm guessing that will be revealed as you adventure in the game. From Aloy's (the main character) narration in the reveal trailer:

The stories don't tell where the old ones went. They don't tell us why the machines rule these lands. But they warn us that this balance cannot last.

Was the gamescom demo any different from what they showed at E3?

I think it was the same, but still impressive on a big screen. I talked a bit to the quest designer (uh ??) who was present. He smiled awkwardly when I mentioned they were reusing assets from KZ Shadowfall, specially the cities.

She appears to be wearing a bicycle lock as a necklace.

I'm really impressed by her elaborate hairdo. Goes to show how much you can achieve with a combination of old-school technology (at least that's what I think it is. Doesn't look like strain rendering to me) and good artistry.

Wow crazy detail on the face, I think this is the first time I saw tiny facial hair on a character model in game.

There was some talk about peach fuzz in the realistic human rendering thread, this seems to be it, too bad it's ruined by post-dof artifacts a lot of the time.

Yeah I was the one who suggested it :), we are now getting into real subtle details like peach fuzz and muscle deformation. And I predict soon we'll have enough poly budget on 3d wrinkles, maybe in a David Cage's game.

Still don't think it's worth the 2ms Shifty? :p

Everything is top notch in the e3 demo. From sky, to volumetric lightning, aloy animation, robot dinosaur animation, shader, materials, physics, geometry... Out of popin it is impressive....
