Halo Anniversary

Yea, I was kinda hoping for more Elites - it's a pity they're now friendly with the humans.

Whatever the new enemies are - I hope it's not a bunch of Flood.

It'll likely be Forerunner, but hopefully more than just flying robots with laser beams.
Is there any indication in the books about what Forerunner forces are like besides the Sentinels?

The other thing that would be interesting is if we could fight enemy humans (like rebels or something) - otherwise there's basically half the weapon sandbox that is only been used against you in multiplayer.

I don't mind purple as long as it is quite a dark shade, it's an alien looking colour - as long as the overall look and feel is realistic and believable I don't mind what they use.

They are a caste society so you have a warrior caste and builders caste which had its own security teams. If im not mistaken some of the warrior and builder caste could become 4~6 meter or so.

Still i found the brutes in reach being quite lackluster compared to some of the artwork

Oh, ok that might be interesting - but they have human sized enemies too, correct? I remember Guilty Spark complaining that Masterchiefs combat exoskeleton was out of date or something.

Yeah, some of their brute designs were too fussy - I mean they are supposed to be primitive and brutish.

it's obviously subjective but I have completely different opinion about their art,I think every level in Reach looks just phenomenal .Skyboxes, colours, flying plasma everywhere, enemy design I like it all and biggest flaw in this game for me is aliasing which can often destroy great looking levels like Exodus for example. For me Reach has this great sci-fi look.

Well, their concept art is generally great, especially for environments, weapons, vehicles and stuff - I think their characters design could be better, for example the Covenant don't look nearly as interesting as the creatures from Mass Effect or Gears.

One thing I didn't like about Reach was some of the Elite designs, especially for the higher ranking Elites which had ridiculously ornate headgear making them look stupid - the other stupid feature about them was their silly 'Big Bird' feet with two huge round toes - things like that I don't find realistic or believable.

And I think their technical art isn't as good as some other studios either - for example I remember there was a discussion on here comparing KZ3 character models with the Elite's from Reach's and despite the Elite having hi resolution textures and more material types most people thought the KZ3 model was higher quality due to Guerilla's expert use of texture layering etc.

I think 343i can still impress, despite being on 360 - the tech/graphics of 360 exclusives still fall somewhat short of their PS3's counterparts and I don't see why 343 can't better Reach.

I mean BF3 will probably look half a generation better than BFBC2 on consoles and unlike DICE, 343 just have to focus on a single platform and don't have to support vast, destructible environments or 32 players.

Plus, I think even if there aren't any significant improvements in tech over Reach - they could always manage to show up Bungie's art, which isn't always that great (though their concepts are good, the actual in-game execution is somewhat lacking). They should also move towards a more realistic look for Halo 4.

Most 360 exclusives don't really push the hardware but when games like Gears of War 3 and Forza 3 do, there easily up there with the PS3's best visual offerings.I do agree that I'd love to see a darker themed look with Halo which is something I belive that 343i is doing.Halo 4's mp could be 16 people with destructible enviornments and still manage to look better then the console versions of BF3.

Wow the Cemake sounds have more uumphhhh to them.

And to (((interference))) i really wanted to see Brutes be bigger in height or less how to say this blocky. And in reach they have no fur..
More like this concept art i find it looking more primal and overpowering

And i really like this concept art of a forerunner fighter looks fast and deadly

Crunchy. :) The RL looks very nice and detailed too.

I like how his armour consists of shoulder pads and a helmet as though he actually has something to protect there...

Imagine if you in Halo 4 get to fight the Forerunners and maybe running in to The Didact, The Librarian etc. Yes yes, I know it not very likely, but would be quite awesome I think :)

The Didact, The Librarian are major characters in the first book from the Forerunner Saga FYI :)

Don't think so.

They're also quite dead by the time Halo begins... it'd be a bit too much if 343 decided to resurrect them.

The only thing I liked about the Brutes was their head gear would pop off when you headshot them and they'd go into a panicky rage, which could be kinda humorous.

Shit, I guess I'm gonna have to start reading the damn Forerunner novels.

yes, I know they are dead in the timeframe the Halo games take place, but who knows, maybe Master Chief and Cortana goes thru some time warp or something at the end of Halo 3 ;-) but I agree, the chance is slim to non

It's almost certain that the enemies in Halo 4 will be the Precursors.....unless the next two books in the forerunner- cryptum trilogy reveals more unexpected surprises.

I think it's a huge risk for MS/343. They run the risk of it not "feeling" like a Halo game, and thus they may alienate a lot of fans.

I get what you are saying but I think that, at the same time, the new trilogy gives them a chance at a new begining, to do something different in a new world and a new setting with a new and different team. Quite frankly, I look forward to seeing how it turns out, and I think that it will turn out brilliant. This is my favourite series after all and MC is coming back. As brilliant as the last two Halo games have been, there is something about the absence of the MC that makes them......very un-Halo-ey.

I think the lack of Master Chief is a more important issue with Reach and ODST. It's less about the Covenant and the Flood and more about combat mechanics and the silent lonely hero.

I wonder what new enemy encounters we will see given the absence of the Covenant troop hierarchy.

Maybe they can make a comeback.
The covenant are religious nuts so if the forerunners are in with small numbers they could use the covenant as low level soldiers. I need my god dam grunts.
