Halo 5: Guardians [XO]

343 and Axis did the cinematic:

It is CG. We directed and animated much of it internally and provided in-game assets for characters but we worked with Axis Animation in Glasgow to complete it. They built environments, did layout, FX, lighting, rendering, post, compositing, and more. They've been a long term partner for us and always do great work.

Also keep in mind, this leads right into the first mission of the game so we wanted the look to match gameplay and make the transition as seamless as possible.

And to those who've asked, yes you can do most of what you see in that action sequence in game. We specifically designed the intro to highlight the gameplay mechanics as well as the individual members of the team.

Currently feces can be recycled into meat. 500 years is probably enough time to develop a real time process that fits into a 1000lb piece of armor.

At least that would answer the question, "Where are the rations kept".

In his ass.

WOW. Thanks for spoiling the plot of halo 6 you jackass. There's a reason spoiler tags were made

Well, there is always the question of whether the suit recycles urine. I can imagine some possibilities but stating my thoughts might bring a lawsuit from Pepsi Co., so I will refrain and keep those ideals to myself. LOL.

Okay, that's all good and well... but...what about the tears??

Spartans never cry.
They go pissing in action

Halo armor will have a flux capacitor built into the suit. Poo is basically organic food broken down anyway.

OT: The characters in the trailer all definitely have a style about them. Buck appears to go through things rather than with finesse. While the red-armored female is more agile in her combat style. Locke also looks to take out the enemies tactically rather than brute force.

I wonder if it was intentional...could be me overthinking it though.

Had to be intentional. People usually don't realize at first just how much thinking goes into such movies. There's always a LOT of client feedback about everything.

Yeah, they probably went through various passes of refinement of the animation to emphasize the fact they are constantly shitting themselves and eating it up.

So ... is Buck still an ODST, or has he been spartanised?

I like the fact that the ODST gang weren't as fast or strong or tough as the Spartans. The cutscene where it took four them working together to take down a Cheiftan (and one of them still nearly copped for it) is one of my favourites.

After reading a Wiki I found that he became a Spartan after the war when rest of his team could join. It was included in the novel Halo: New Blood that was released earlier this year.

Tommy McClain

He has to be a Spartan; and ODST would just weigh down team Osiris. He's also wearing too much armor for someone without augmentations - it'd be way too heavy, or the force amplification would crush him.

I haven't read the books though, so I wonder what happened to the rest of his squad, or his relationship with Dare...

Yeah, as Azbat found out, Buck has been augmented as a Spartan IV. I'd read the Halopedia page on "New Blood" if you want to catch up with the ODST game crew.

Ah. Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand it makes sense given who he needs to fight along side, but on the other hand I liked the whole tenacious underdog thing.

Good to get some older blood and more experienced soldiers on the Spartan team though. Someone that survived the Covenant war unaugmented would have a lot to offer.

Yeah, think I'll do that.

Stopped with the Halo books around Halo 3 time, and Halo 4 killed my interest in the wider Haloverse. Halo 5 is giving me good feels though, so I need to do some catching up ....

Well, that's getting prettier all the time :)

Also, nice biiig open space, lots of enemies, faster pacing... Only thing I'm a bit worried about is keeping track of where your team is and what they're doing. I mean, even just watching that I had no idea where the rest of team Osiris was most of the time.

I'm sure someone's gonna analyze the dynamic resolution pretty soon, so I'm not even gonna attempt it ;) Didn't feel particularly low at any time, but then again it's a compressed YT video...
