GTA V announced [2011] , [2021-11-11]

Hmm GTA:SA has 105 main missions...

Interesting to see if this will feel like a "short game" at least in the GTA series.

It has to be stated that most GTA V main missions are much longer and multi-parted than a typical SA or IV one.

Hmmm I am wondering about the story now, not clear to me what is the next story misson....

R* had mentioned earlier that the campaign length is shorter than GTA4. They realised gta4 was a tad too long and many people did not finish it, that was their inference. Maybe they didn't realise it was a tad too boring to finish :p !

Anyways, I am very ahppy with what they have served here. If lesser missions means a world so good, then lesser is better.

This is it. I finished GTA IV but the story missions, with a few notable exceptions, we're quite dull. GTA IV had great production values but was like a $2m action movie. GTA V is like a $200m action movie. There are very few missions I'm not looking forward to replaying.

I just have this idea that when i am done with the game i will get hit with the gamers depression, that only happens when a good game comes to an end :)

I had it partly with Vice City, when the last mission was over the game felt city felt like an empty shell.

I just finished the main story mission. There is a ton left to do - side missions, property, etc, plus I want to replay from the start so I can do the alternate heist mission strategies,

I enjoyed it thoroughly, but it was the easiest GTA game I've ever played - a little too easy.

That's why i will try to do all the missions before the end of the game!! :p

I'm just amazed at the quality of the story and the writing in this game.

It's simply fantastic, the stories are just so good and all the characters so far seem multi-dimensional, not just cardboard stereotypes. Sure, I guess there's some of that, but mostly it's a very deep experience.

I'm loving it so far, really well done.

Can you replay the big heist mission to get more money? I was wondering what a good source of cash is without going deeper into the story. Side missions seem to have small rewards, I want something that pays >$100k.

Lester missions combined with some timely stock trades seems to be one of the best ways to accrue cash outside of the heist missions.

But that only works with Franklin, at least through the first play through.

The stock market. Pay close attention to when somebody gives you stock tips and invest all you can spare across all your characters but leave money for incidentals - some of the stocks take a few weeks to peak.

Lester's missions in particular tend to involve fucking over one company to advantage another. Pay attention to his pre-mission dialogue. I've also had a few stock tips from random encounters after returning money or property.

So far I have had zero luck with the stock market. . .seems pretty close to real life in that regard (just a way to hoover cash from the dumb to the rich a la casinos, the lottery, etc.)

=)

Cheers

If you're following tips from game characters, you'll make money. The best longterm reliable income is property acquisitions but you need to pay attention to cost vs weekly income then calculate the game time it would take to recoup the cost.

The Golf Course ($150m purchase, $264k/week income) is a poor investment because it'll take 10 game years  to break even, however the Doppler cinema ($10m purchase, $132k/week income) is a good investment because it'll pay for itself in under a year and a half.

You can also rig the game, I hear - think hard about what your next mission is going to affect, and then invest wisely.

or just invest in one company and then bomb the other to hell

Nope haven't check'd it yet.. but it should work..

Lester Missions/Stock Market:

I made the mistake of sitting on a stock too long after a Lester mission. At one point, the stock was showing a 49% return and I figured I would wait for it to peak a little higher. The next time I checked it had fallen back down to its original price. At that point in the game that was a huge "loss" for me and I've been kicking myself for doing that ever since. In short, be careful how long you sit on a stock. It doesn't seem to take too long after you first hear the related news story about your actions on the radio for the stock to provide a nice return.

A guy from R, don't remember who or in what interview, said you could buy stock from a car company, and subsequently wreck every car from that company you would see on the streets, so the stock of that company would rise with all the new cars being rebought with insurance money, while the insurance company's stock would plummet.

I finally did two Lester Missions. I bought like $100k from each and then watched them go up, as soon as one dipped I sold it, the other was still going up. They were both over 80%. You also want to switched characters as soon as possible to buy the same stock, the small amount of lag will diminish the returns a bit, but you can still make plenty on all three guys with the same info.
