I'm wondering if some of the discussion above is factoring in the GAAS and MTS factor?
I know people don't like to think of this way but the reality is gamers/customers aren't equal anymore in the business. Outside of very conventional SP games, the business dynamics are just more complex these days. Or are people just assuming GTA 6 is going to be a very conventional SP release model?
For example with a significant PC delay you'd need to factor in the potential loss on MTS revenue vs. the so called double dip onboard cost.
The compute battle with what? PS4 Pro launch to supplement the 1.8Tf PS4 over the 1.2Tf XBO. One X wasn't even speculated about at the tine, and the One X wasn't announced until 8 months after the Pro launched.I don't think so. I think they want a PS5 Pro because they know that as the gen goes on they're going to lose the compute battle and/or they want to seem to be on the cutting edge. I don't think they actually worry about PC bleed.
GTA V Online is what makes me most anxious about GTA VI. GTA V has a great and meaty single-player campaign but since Online launched, all effort has been put into online because that is what is driving Take Two's revenue. I worry that GTA VI's story may be a short ten hour story that acts as little more than a tutorial for what is intended to be a follow-up GaaS title.I'm wondering if some of the discussion above is factoring in the GAAS and MTS factor?

Sony would pay Take Two millions to have a PS5 trailer. That's all that matters, not impressing sweaty gamers with slightly better visuals.Trailer will be capped on highend pc because the expectations for this are so crazy high I don't think they have a chance to meet them, and the game will be announced with some fivem type mode so r* can better monetize the populairty of that mod.
Maybe running on pc, with "running in real time" label without mentioning it was running on pc, and exclusively publish it on PS marketing channelsSony would pay Take Two millions to have a PS5 trailer. That's all that matters, not impressing sweaty gamers with slightly better visuals.
RDR2 still having a meaty campaign is the only thing giving me hope on this front.GTA V Online is what makes me most anxious about GTA VI. And RDR2's story was about twice as long as GTA5 as well, but like GTA V it got no DLC and when RDR2 Online didn't take off like GTA V, Rockstar dropped it pretty damn quickly so we know what their focus is.RDR2 still having a meaty campaign is the only thing giving me hope on this front.
I'm actually hoping the opportunity for new writers will inject some actual decent writing in it for once. I'm not 15 anymore and just beating me over the head with wildly over-the-top, lazy and 'edgy' satire of everything and anything just doesn't do much for me anymore. There's no actual wit to anything like you'd maybe find in South Park.we already know there is a full solo story with two protagonist, no worries here.
I just hope it's still the same high level satire of modern US, full of violence and cliché, and they have not toned it down to please some vocal groups that don't even play videogames.
Agreed. I think GTA has done the low-brow US cultural satire thing to death at this point. I'd also like to see a smarter, wittier commentary and it doesn't even need to be political or culturally self-deprecating. This worked for GTA III through GTV V, and I'd like to see it in the rearview mirror but it also feels like it's a bit of a defining quality of the series.I'm actually hoping the opportunity for new writers will inject some actual decent writing in it for once.
