Grand Theft Auto VI [GTA 6]: What can we expect?

Interiors don't seem to have any impact on GTAV's performance, as far as I've experienced. The ones that are part of the open world, rather than cutscenes, are well spaced out. Presumably that's a last last gen streaming consideration.

Dev budget must have been massive for the game, it should release on all big plateforms at the same time.
And they'll break even in the first days of release.

You're probably right. Poor struggling Rockstar need those double dip dollars after all. :)

There's no such thing as double dipping, as a widespread phenomenon. It's a fabricated notion where console only/focused gamers think that PC only gamers dont exist and every pc gamer is just a playstation gamer rebuying the game a second time. Which, naturally, is nonsense. There will be some overlap, surelly , nothing is 100% one way or another. But the vast majority of people who will buy the game on PC will be playing it for the 1st time. PC only gamers. As is the case with every game. Rockstar for sure has a peculiar approach to PC gaming. I would so like to be in the room and hear how these decisions are made. Especially in today's world where PC is bigger than ever and makes eye watering sales for so many games, including GTA 5

GTA has always been associated with consoles. And with how aggressive Rockstar has been about modding in GTAV, I think they may have some 'those hacker pirates' old attitudes about the platform and market. But regardless, consoles are where they make most of their money, so that's gonna be their priority. And I can see how for such a franchise, devoting resources to a more complicated PC version can be seen as a distraction at best, or straight up detrimental at worst. At least for getting the game out.

Though I suppose you could always argue this is a bit of a chicken and egg situation, and that if they simply prioritized PC alongside consoles, and maybe added resources in order to do so, that they'd see PC make up a more consistent and larger chunk of their revenue.

And yea, I agree the intention is really not 'double dipping'. That seems like one of those shallow 'sounds right on the surface' ideas that gamers love to go with without thinking about it any deeper than that.

Well, I did smiley it. :)

I'd be interested to know what the actual numbers are for people who buy on console and then on PC. Gamers in general have terrible FOMO, which I will evidence by the fact digital preorders existed before preloading was a thing.

I don't think such a notion exists within console gamers.
He is only pointing to the fact that Rockstar knows the popularity of their games and they can sell it multiple times regardless of platform.

There is, that's why i mentioned it. Depends i suppose on the person, but some gamers who are fully focused on consoles tend to think that way because PC as a platform is a huge blindspot for them. I think the thread on resetera waiting for the trailer has every reply asking about PC responding with double diping. I noticed just from being online that a lot of traditionally console gamers who only became aware of PC being used as a gaming platform in recent times, they dont have style of looking at these things. They always thought consoles are where gaming happens, so when they learned about computers they tend to look at it as people having computers as an add-on for consoles. Its not really that big of a deal. Different perspectives

Ah, looks like the rumour mill was right (sort of), although the prediction was that the announcement was going to happen in October since that's historically when new GTAs have been announced.

Well we get all kinds of people on every platform. Depending what rooms we enter we may we find certain types of people more concentrated than what we would find in the real world.

It maybe depends on the game? Like of gta6 will support cross save, people may be more willing to double or even triple dip?

Agree to disagree! When I was freaking out at having figured out how to get hardware acceleration on the original GTA on my pentium 60Hz I don't think a lot of consollers were talking about it. :p

Before it took over the world it was a top down PC only shooter that was fun as hell. It's been a real treat watching that game evolve, still probably my fave all time gaming series.

It was NOT a PC only shooter. It was released the same year on PS1.

Edit: Grand Theft Auto 3 which is the game that rocketed the series to even higher fame was released on PS2 October 2001 and on PC on May 2002.
