After looking at the Aus GP qualifying it seems it will be another season of Max vs McLaren.

It’s still very early and Ferraris while may not be pole for qualifying, they do remarkably well for the race.

Not necessarily. Driver is a massive factor here. Both Albon and Perez drove the same car as Max but couldn’t compete with Max.

Yes, it can be hard to compete against someone who has the car built just for him. Unless your driving style and feel is exact match, you're going to lose overall no matter how good you might be in some other car.

Obviously, it's the best driver in the team with the best car.

There is the odd exception, but the speed of the car is the biggest factor. Would be better if two teams were neck and neck in performance, but that rarely seems to happen these days. More common for a dominant team to make a complete balls-ups of the new car when the regulations change in one manner or another, at which point the team with the newly fastest car starts to win most of the races...

very rapid improvement for him here, so that is very good to see. I recall watching a small vid from Hamilton where he said changing teams could take months to eventually result into something substantial. For him to be taking pole so quickly is a very good thing to see. And very good for viewers =P. I thought 2024 was a crazy year, this could top it!
It's looking like 3 team shootout, with Merc having a good chance to be the wildcard factor as the 4th.
