Formula 1 - 2024 Season

Yet another race of Max showing why he's not fit for F1. That crap wouldn't be tolerated even in karting. At least he got couple penalties this time but still.

Ive been following comments on Reddit and YouTube saying that he’s justified in doing what he did in Austin. Now I’m very curious as to what they say now.

Should have also given the spot back. Really unfair stuff.

the overtaking guidelines and related sporting regs need to be fixed wrt defender going off the track in defense because its only the overtaker who has to stay on the track for the overtake to stick according to the guidelines so max just doesnt make the corner and forces another driver to get a penalty

so good result for the drivers championship

ferrari could win this years constructor if their drivers stay as consistent for the rest of the races this year

I think Austin was on the limit but within using (abusing) the rules. Mexico was well over it and kinda taking the mickey out of the rules. Felt more he was just clean driving Norris of the road.

It's not using/abusing rules but your reputation/influence to force your way. He broke the rules to make other driver break rules more and got away with no penalties in Austin.
And no-one with even just one eye can't deny the fact that rules haven't been applied to him the same way they've been applied to others. He's not the first 'golden boy' and probably won't be the last either, but that doesn't change anything.

Max has a lot more to lose than anyone else right now though.
If he keeps driving in such risky / elbows out manner, and as a result he has a crash, and doesn't finish a race, it's a MUCH bigger loss for him than basically anyone else in the field,
perhaps except Norris.

Honestly if your Mclaren you would be telling Piastri not to make room for max if he makes a bad move, even if it means they both end up crashing.

He's only doing it to Lando. For example the battle with Sainz was totally normal. Its just a tactic. The car isn't quick enough but he knows Lando needs every point he can get. So he's (overly) aggressive in an attempt to hamper Lando as much as he can. Lando didn't win while he probably had a shot at the win if he didn't have that tussle with Max. OTOH Max was probably looking at 6th anyway. Its not pretty and Mexico was well over the limit for me but from Max's point of view it must make sense because there isn't anything else he can do against Lando.

I mean, the right thing to do is not risk the lives of 2 people because your team can’t make a faster car. He had 3 dominant seasons, before the field caught up. It’s immature to behave this way.

Risking lives? Bit dramatic. He had 1.5 dominant seasons, not three.

I don't think doing anything you can to win is immature, not at that level. Senna and Schumacher weren't any better on track. Let's not even start about some of the things some of them apparently did off track. Saying he should let someday else win because he already has 3 WDC's is kindergarten level rethroics.

Unsportsmanlike is what I'd call it. But if winning is all that mattered since you were a kid (and you get millions of you do), you probably don't care so much.

Senna and Schumacher did the same as I said. Vettel didn't care much either. Hamilton is pretty clean but he didn't really have to push that hard apart from maybe that one season with Rosberg.

Mexico was well over the limit but overall I rather see hard racing.

He won in 2021 through 2023.
22 and 23 he was definitely dominant, he broke records if I recall correct. He was nearly dominant for the first half of 2024.

Risking lives? Yeaimo, all it takes is a situation where someone doesn’t want to leave space and it’s a collision. And every collision is risking lives, at that speed you just never know what can happen. I mean we saw a little bit of that in 2021 when Hamilton didn’t want to cede space. They just crashed.

I dunno if it’s worth it. The fact that they are discussing rule changes tells me that no one wants to see those types of risks being played out either.

Granted I also like to see hard racing. But something needs to change.

Wow… this Grand Prix weekend has just been action packed roller coaster.

Currently a red flag. I think VER will take this one now

verstappen was in a class of his own this race, he overtook when other people didnt dare
also mclaren were unlucky/unwise pitting just as the virtual safety car ended

great race, lots of action, but bad for the championship

Not really. He was stuck like everyone else most of the time and passed in 1st lap mayhem & others mistakes. Nothing like 2016 for example.

im no verstappen fan at all (😭 my boi alonso 😭 )but if you cant agree that he didnt put a foot wrong and made a lot of moves, you must have been watching another race than me

I didn't say that. I'm disagreeing with "a lot of moves" part. I said he was stuck most of the time like the rest. He got up in the 1st lap mayhem and due others mistakes (tactical or on track). It was nothing like he did in 2016 Brazil.

He was dominant for sure. I wish there weren’t so many red flags. Ocon was putting. A lot of space between him and VER at one point in time until the restart.

but compared to most of the others, like perez in presumably identical car and hamilton, he made a lot of moves
